I would never, ever allow a loved one to come to this hospital. If you need to go to the hospital or ERāgo to another one. I can only warn you; if you prefer not to heed this and warnings in other reviews then it's your right.
GO TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL if you want doctors that can be medically trusted with your care.
This has nothing to do with soft factors like bedside manner, professionalism, rudeness, etc. None of those things would make me tell you to run. Instead, this has everything to do with the actual medical aptitude of this hospital.
āāSome Addl Details Belowāā I was awake for my entire stay at this hospital, which was 21 hours.
I witnessed so many mind-boggling mistakes, (multiple) flat out lies, empty promises, and straight up medical malpractice during my
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHands down the worst experience Iāve ever had in an ER. After an hour of vomiting in the waiting room, the receptionist doing my intake kept getting upset at me for being unable to speak due to the amount of pain and suffering I was going through. Then instead of advocating for me to get inside sooner, she told me to ask the nurse when I see her how long itās gonna be. Yeah, as if Iām the one who works here and knows who exactly the nurse is thatās going to be triaging me.
Then once I finally got put into a bed, I got stuck with an incompetent nurse who wanted to gossip and play games all day, instead of actually idk, nursing me back to health. I was told I was going to get an IV and some meds, he comes in, sets down all the stuff he needs to administer the IV, and leaves. For two hours. Iām still vomiting and had to get up and go over to the desk to REMIND HIM that he never did my IV. Everytime Iād see him he was sitting at his computer, or flirting with female nurses. It also didnāt help that when he finally did put the IV in me, he had no idea how to put a line in a hand, repeatedly stabbing me anyways knowing he wasnāt able to put the IV in my hand, and blamed it on my veins even though I always had them put in my hands in the past. So as heās putting it in my arm, of course he forgets to add the attachment that stops the blood from just pouring out of me, so my arm, clothes, bed and floor were completely covered in my blood. What does he do next? He picks up a napkin he dropped on the FLOOR and proceeds to clean me up with it. I immediately said what the hell are you doing, and he goes āitās ok itās just around the IV youāll be fineāā¦.. when I told this to the next nurse, because i was there for over 15 hours, her eyes almost bulged out of her head because she knew what that nurse did to me was wrong.
I will be filing a formal complaint about this and I urge everyone to please avoid this emergency room. They released me without even seeing if I could hold down any food and guess what, Iām still sick 4 days later and traumatized with the idea of having to go to another ER. Also thanks to the doctor who rolled his eyes at me when I said I needed something stronger than tylenol for pain. If tylenol helped, I obviously wouldnāt be in the emergency room. I get better treatment at the free clinics in the Dominican Republic, nuff said. You donāt use things that have...

For some months now my wife has been harassed by the grossly incompetent billing department at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. I have been with her when she has made her co-pays, always with a check, either directly before or after each visit. She has NEVER failed to make these co-pays, often reminding the desk clerks that a co-pay is required.
For the second time now, the Brooklyn Hospital Center, due its own lack of conscientiousness in keeping track of their patient records, has forced my wife to get copies of the checks with which she has made her required co-pays to prove that she has, in fact, been prompt and responsible in making these co-payments. As if this wasn't aggravating enough -- to be accused of delinquency by the perpetrators of systemic billing abuse and harassed by collection agencies -- the hospital has now employed the use of an attorneys office to threaten her!!
As I recently found out, according to the Office of the Inspector General at the US Department of Health and Human Services, "... The 464-bed Brooklyn Hospital Center received $544,783 in Medicare over-payments during 2010 and 2011, mostly due to incorrectly billing inpatient claims."
Apparently there is a history of this type of poor performance at this hospital. Something must be done about this. Now I have an even stronger suspicion that my wife is not the only victim of the Brooklyn Hospital Center's billing incompetency. How long will they get away with this? Every time they make one of these erroneous claims against my wife, her credit rating takes another hit -- FOR NO DISCERNIBLE REASON.
Perhaps the threat of litigation would light a fire in the billing department so they might hire someone who can set it right again. Or perhaps a complaint to the Attorney General's office might be a wake up call. To all other Brooklyn Hospital Center billing department victims, I offer these suggestions.
As of now, I would very strongly recommend against anyone making use of this hospital. They have little regard for accuracy when it comes to patient records; and reach out much too quickly for collection agencies when the fault is theirs.
Who knows what other misdeeds they might be unaware of and...
