From the moment I saw the burger arrive at my table, I knew it was going to be something special. The presentation was top-notch, with a perfectly toasted bun, fresh lettuce and tomato, and a juicy beef patty cooked to perfection. The aroma of the burger was mouth-watering, and I couldn't wait to dig in.
The beef patty was incredibly flavorful, with a perfect balance of seasoning and juiciness that made each bite burst with flavor. The bun was excellent providing the perfect complement to the savory patty. The toppings were also delicious, with fresh lettuce and tomato adding a nice crunch and acidity to the burger.
What really set this burger apart, however, was the attention to detail in its preparation. Every element of the burger was clearly crafted with care and attention to detail, from the perfectly melted cheddar, crispy pancetta and pickled ginger served with spicy sushi on the side that added a delightful tanginess to the overall flavor profile.
Overall, I would highly recommend this burger to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal. It's clear that the restaurant takes great pride in their food, and it definitely shows in the quality and flavor of the burger. Whether you're a die-hard burger fan or simply looking for a delicious meal, this burger is...
Read moreUntil my last meal here, Hi-Life would have gotten an unqualified 5 stars. A varied menu with something for everyone in a comfortable casual setting, convenient to transportation and a lot of great destinations, plus pretty fair prices. And it was always really, really good. But last week they had an off night. And yes, it happens to everyone, so I will definitely go back and I won't really hold it against them, but they did it when I had out of town guests so it was embarrassing.
Usually the steak sandwich is reliably delicious, but that night it was tough and tasteless. I heard that most of the food was meh, though my mussels were great and the edamame with garlic appetizer was amazing and loved by all. To be fair, it was an unusually warm October Saturday and the place was packed, so maybe they were simply overwhelmed and unprepared for the swarm of guests.
We love the burgers here, and usually can order blindfolded. They even have solid sushi! And very good brunch. Totally worth a try, but maybe not when...
Read moreMy wife and I walked in on a blustery December evening and found the cozy, old-school atmosphere perfect. Great initial impression enhanced by perfectly prepared classic Manhattans (not just the Millennials recipe of chilled bourbon in a cocktail glass). Note this was the first non-Asian restaurant in NYC to have a separate, dedicated sushi bar. So, no slouches when it comes to general attention and care. With a truly eclectic menu available (Thai, Sushi, Burgers, etc) I ordered a very unfortunate steak. While closing in on $30 and described as a “14 oz. grilled NY shell steak” and ordered medium-rare, it was similar to a thin (1/4”+/-) slice of over-cooked eye-round (e.g. tough) about ¾ the size of a slice of Pepperidge Farm White Bread. Sides were fine, but I should have sent the piece of meat back (which I’m not in the habit of). Didn’t try other items on the menu but I assume they’re likely fine judging from the fact that the cocktails were handled with care and meat is one area where restaurants can...
