I have always been intimidated by the “weight room” Although I considered myself a gym person for a long time, there was an invisible fence that I never crossed between the cardio equipment and where “the meatheads” would congregate. What worked in my younger years just wasn’t cutting it anymore and I knew I wanted to do more strength training to boost my sense of self. Unfortunately, not having a lot of knowledge around free weights and strength equipment, I felt lost. Finding VGG has truly been a gift! Over the past few months, I have worked 1:1 with the trainers at VGG and they are so incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. Travis, Alena, and Angel all work together to identify my unique strengths and weaknesses and come up with a program that is challenging and progressive. I actually am so much stronger than I ever have been and what’s best, I am lifting heavy but learning the right techniques so am free of pain and/or injury. The lessons I learned here better prepared me to hit the ground running when I encountered similar exercises in other fitness classes, and set me in the right direction when training independently.
