Wholeview Wellness has transformed--and possibly saved--my life. I began attending all of their intensive outpatient (IOP) groups in December and continued until I began my dream job as a science journalist in July. Now I attend their evening groups. I would not have been able to get back to the place where I am able to excel in my career without Wholeview.
As someone who works in science and peer review, and as someone who has struggled with a severe and life-threatening addiction, I needed something that worked. I'm so glad that all of the methods here are evidence-based. I could be called a treatment veteran, and hands-down this is the most helpful and effective help/support/treatment I've ever received. All of the groups are incredibly goal-oriented, practical, and applicable. I learn something new every day, and I can apply what I've learned right away. I felt great being able to see my own progress.
All of the staff here is just wonderful, from Roger, the head of outreach who makes everyone smile, to all of the experienced doctoral psychologists. I'm grateful to Dr. Church, Dr. Smith, Dr. Colley, and Dr. Genece for all of their help, kindness, and talent. I also find that the other clients here are very smart and motivated, so the peer support is invaluable. The psychologists here are hands-down the best you will ever find.
Like many, relapse has been a part of my recovery. The therapists at Wholeview helped me to see these as "slips" that didn't need to turn into full relapses, and help me to learn from the experiences new ways to cope and how to prevent this from happening again in the future. They were also compassionate and nonjudgmental, so I felt comfortable being honest, instead of ashamed as I have been in other treatment settings. As a result, I learned so much from these experiences. I had several of these slips in the beginning, but they helped me to get back on my feet, and I have been completely sober/abstinent for nearly 7 months now--and happier than I can ever remember! My depression has completely lifted.
The office is a beautiful, comfortable place. And the coffee and sparkling water are just delicious!
Thank you, Wholeview Wellness, for creating this incredible program that has made my life so much better! I can hardly recognize the person who first came here to where I am today. I couldn't have come this far...
Read moreTo echo another reviewer, Wholeview is hands-down the best addiction treatment to be found in New York City (and certainly among the best in the United States.) Along my path to recovery from severe opiate addiction (multiple years clean now!) I have been through 4 inpatient rehab stays, 8 different outpatient programs, and a handful of sober living residences. Despite my best efforts, I relapsed time and time again. It wasn't until I enrolled at Wholeview that I was able to successfully break this dangerous, painful cycle to remain drug-free and build the foundation of stable mental health that has afforded me my life back.
Dr. Sarah Church, the program's founder who continues to be involved in everything from leading groups, counseling individuals, and case management, is both an angel and a genius. Wholeview utilizes the best evidence-based practices, with a staff composed of PhD level clinicians (a vast departure from most recovery programs). Every single psychologist I have encountered at Wholeview through my groups and individual sessions has helped me improve my life in measurable ways and provided unparalleled resources. Wholeview clinicians are as caring as they are intelligent. As a patient, I have consistently felt understood, attended to, and hopeful throughout my entire experience with Wholeview. I honestly believe I might not be alive today to write this review had I not been fortunate to come across Wholeview.
And while I am not usually in the practice of writing reviews online, to not share my experience when it comes to such a life-changing experience as addiction treatment would be a disservice to others seeking help for themselves or their loved ones. In addition to Wholeview's main program, for individuals with Medicaid coverage there is Wholeview Direct -- another gem in the rather dismal landscape of addiction treatment. As someone who has seen firsthand a diversity of treatment options, I wholeheartedly recommend Wholeview to anyone and everyone (families of addicts included...check out their CRAFT program) in need of help with dependence...
Read moreAs a parent of a son participating in the program at Whole view, words cannot express my appreciation and sincere gratitude I have for this facility. My son Jake began attending their IOP program this summer after many difficult years of living with a substance-abuse problem and nearly dying last year from his addiction.
Wholeview provided my son with the environment he terribly needed, including an amazing support system made up of a professional staff of MDs, who are experts in the care and guidance of individuals with addiction problems.
It was at Wholeview, where my son was able to share his experiences and gain acceptance of his problems.
Roger, Director of Operations/Business Development, always made Jake feel comfortable, safe and secure, as did Dr. Church in small group settings, whom Jake spoke of often with the highest regard.
If you, as a parent or significant individual have questions, Roger is kind and caring, and always responds promptly to telephone calls and emails. He has always read and returned my emails expeditiously with positive and supportive, comforting suggestions, updates and always presenting realistic goals for my son.
We have surely found the right treatment center as Jake is preparing to transition, interviewing for jobs and optimistic about his future with a clear mind that is free of drugs.
Thank you all at Wholeview for your exceptional psychological and social support. Because of you, Jake has truly been been given a second chance and new opportunities for his future survival.
All of this can be directly attributed to the wonderful efforts and great work at...
