I was incredibly fortunate to be introduced to Norma and her Iyengar class following chiropractic therapy for lower back and metatarsal issues in 2019. From the first time I attended Norma's class, it became quite clear why she comes so highly recommended.
Norma is a kind, genuine human being, full of energy with a true passion for teaching, educating, and inspiring. She is generous, humble, and a trustworthy teacher. Her wonderful classes are suited for yogis of all levels of experience. She helps each of us to adapt poses to meet our current capabilities, offering guidance when we are ready to deepen our poses/practice. Or even when there's a temporary setback, and you have to take it a bit easier.
In a time of Covid-19, unrest, unease, Norma quickly pivoted from in-person instruction (terribly missed by her students) to practice via Zoom virtual/online. Which means no matter where you are on this planet, you can access one of Norma's classes!
Through example, Norma shows us how to embrace change, adapt, and feel empowered, despite chaos. She is an excellent communicator, whether for pre-class preparation (props, poses of focus) or during in-session instruction. Don't have yoga props? She'll help you figure out what you can use instead.
I am grateful for Norma's love & respect for yoga and her pupils. And in a time of social isolation, I am grateful for the global community Norma...
Read moreNorma is a true gem! I feel so lucky to be her student for nearly a decade. Norma’s Iyengar Yoga instruction has helped me through so much: pregnancy/post-natal recovery, various injuries, and everything in between. As an occupational therapist, I am consistently impressed by her attention to proper alignment and anatomy. Norma personalizes instruction for each of her students, making sure that everyone is safe and getting the maximum benefit from their practice. During the pandemic, Norma switched seamlessly to Zoom classes and continues to give personalized instructions even in this new format. I’m so thankful that I’m still able to access her...
Read moreIt was no surprise how quickly Norma adapted to teaching Iyengar Yoga via Zoom (from in-person classroom set-up). Flexibility is a key Norma attribute and a key result when taking Norma's classes. If you don't have all of the yoga props at home, no worries, Norma provides insight into how your couch, end table, bed, chairs, and cushions can be used as an aid for the many asanas/positions. Norma's 'eagle-eye' is very evident, even with Zoom. Personal corrections are key to Norma's instructions. It couldn't be easier to take a class from the comfort of your home. Your mind, your body, and your soul...
