Chelsea Rose Seafood — Local services in Newport

I love leaving 5 star reviews but in this case I cannot. We drove from Florence, OR to Newport, OR to buy fresh fish from Chelsea Rose Seafood at the dock. We spent over $200 on one whole Salmon and a couple small Cod fillets. I don't mind spending $200 on fish but my expectation is that this fish would taste incredibly fresh. We cooked one Salmon fillet and the others went in the freezer immediately. We cooked it like we have all other fresh salmon and were astounded that this one tasted so fishy we ended up throwing it out. My husband and I are not ones to like seafood that tastes fishy. We figured maybe that salmon was not caught that day, and we decided to give the cod a try. Googled multiple places before coming here and we were going to stop somewhere prior but it stunk bad so we ended up with this place. The main two guys that helped us was beyond friendly and got our crabs for us as well as cleaned them they also answered all of our questions but then a tall guy came out and was extremely rude. He had the worst tone of voice, wouldn’t answer questions, didn’t tell us it would be two dollars cash for specific things, and he was rude when we asked about the coho salmon. Great service! The guy today (don’t know his name, he was African American) was SO NICE, helpful and FRIENDLY! We asked questions, walked around then came back to buy from him because we liked him so much. He helped a lady to her car with her large order of fish then we ordered. Two other guys were there in the afternoon when we ordered - they did a nice job with the fish but weren’t very professional interacting in front of us, customers. Probably wouldn’t come back if it was just them selling fish. Good quality fish, I’ll be back...
