Red Lotus Music — Local services in Newport

Bought my daughter an acoustic guitar here almost about six months ago for her birthday. I also bought her all the bells and whistles to go with it, i.e guitar bag, hanger, straps, extra cords etc,... The owner (I think) was very nice and was very helpful, however I did sense he thought I was going to have a problem with money and paying for everything? He pointed out along the way what everything cost etc,.. even though he knew that we were there for a birthday gift and we had intended on a large purchase.

Right up to checkout when I was on my phone for a work related matter I had to attend to briefly he made mention of me having to "transfer some bank funds". Really? I did not appreciate any of his financial input especially in front of, and within ear shot of all of my children. If he wanted to "help out" he could have offered a birthday discount. Anyways, very off putting and we will only be going here for immediate/emergency...

We wanted to have someone knowledgeable look at my husband's electric guitar as it needed an adjustment. We saw Red Lotus on Google maps, and the website in the info had a phone number that was out of service. We drove by where the GPS took us, but the building was only a concrete pad. We went around the block again and spotted the Red Lotus sign in a window of the trading company. The music store had moved during COVID, but Google Maps didn't reflect that. Anyway, Evans, the owner, was a tremendous help to my husband, and his guitar plays great now. We didn't get a working phone number from him, but he did say his website was made many years ago by a friend who has since passed. He needs a new website, but he can't afford it. If someone who has the capability could make him a new website for free, it would be so great! We need this music store in Newport, it's an important part of...

He's got a lot of cool stuff especially for serious musicians, sound room, etc..... Once in awhile he leaves earlier than his closing time, which might be a little frustrating if you have to hurry to try to get down there before it closes, he's closed Sundays Monday and Tuesday, which after breaking strings on the weekend it seems Monday and Tuesday's always the days that I need to go there but they're closed, but other than that it's an...
