As a Southerner who’s been living in Utah for the past 14 years, finding truly great BBQ has been nearly impossible. And believe me—we’ve stopped at every single BBQ spot we pass and tried every one that’s been recommended. In all that time, we’ve only discovered one place worth the drive—and it’s four hours away. That is, until today! A friend recommended Steve’s, so we made the trip from Utah County up to Ogden, and wow, was it worth it. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed—the restaurant was spotless, beautifully decorated, full of personality, and had a fun vibe with great music. We were greeted with a warm smile and an enthusiastic “Welcome! How can I help you?” Since it was our first visit, the staff offered excellent suggestions (including a few “must-try” dishes) and even shared a clever breakfast recipe for leftovers. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. The chopped brisket was so tender and juicy you could cut it with a spoon. The dino ribs—my personal favorite—literally fell off the bone and were bursting with flavor. The pulled pork was perfectly seasoned and moist, the sausage was outstanding, and the flank steak was cooked to perfection. The sides were every bit as impressive. The mac and cheese, made with six different cheeses, was creamy, smoky, and packed with flavor. The tater scoop was like hash leveled up to greatness. And for dessert, we couldn’t resist trying both the apple and peach cobblers—they were sinfully delicious and the perfect way to end the meal. After years of searching, we’ve finally found BBQ in Utah that feels like home. Steve’s Black Sabbath BBQ is a must-visit!

Ogden is lucky to have Steve's setting up a permanent location. We had some pulled pork and sausage while we were checking out the First Friday Art Stroll at the Monarch and Steve's food and friendly service was a highlight of the evening. We are anxiously awaiting the opening of the new restaurant. Cheers! I have to add an update as we finally had the privilege of eating at the new permanent location. The setting by the river is beautiful and adds amazing ambiance to such incredible food. We came on a Sunday and fortunately we got their early so we were able to get the beef ribs. They opened at 11 and the beef ribs were sold out by 1230. This style of beef rib is rare and there are only a few ribs per animal that yield this type of "brontosaurus" or "dinosaur" style ribs prized by barbecue aficionados. This is another example of how Steve not only knows how to pick the most prized meats, but also to bring out the best in such a choice option. I've been fortunate to have amazing barbeque all over this country and this is amongst the best anywhere.

Steve’s Black Sabbath BBQ is the best BBQ in town! The brisket was sliced fresh as we ordered very tender and flavorful no sauces needed. The peach cobbler was divine. The ribs were my favorite which surprised me I’m not usually a fan of ribs. The sausage had great flavor. The smoked beans had a great flavor and perfect texture we liked the flavor of the macaroni and cheese but do prefer a wetter style of Mac. The pork belly burnt ends were also seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone was knowledgeable of the menu and they were actually interactive and happy to help which is rare these days. It was also very clean and there’s outdoor and indoor seating the outdoor seating has an amazing view of the river. They do have one sauce option which was good, there’s a topping bar to dress up the entrees but it’s honestly not needed. My entire family left full and happy with the quality of food and overall experience 10/10 recommend giving them a try.

Since the original Huntsville BBQ closed up in the valley about 8 years ago, I have had to drive to SLC to find really good BBQ. I've been searching for an Ogden restaurant serving good Texas BBQ, and that search has been fruitless. Places came and went, but none stayed. Well, that search is over.

Today I had lunch at Steve's Black Sabbath BBQ on Washington Boulevard. I saw some reviews on line that gave me hope that this would be the place I had been looking for. And it certainly is. I had the "lean" brisket and it was exactly what I was looking for. Had just enough of the cap to provide some juicyness, but the flavor was exactly on point. My friend has the Pork Burnt Ends, and he couldn't stop talking about them. We both couldn't have asked for better. We both had his "Texas Taters" for our side-- think dutch oven potatoes-- and they were awesome, too. I finished my lunch with their Apple Crisp Cobbler. I would return to this restaurant for that item alone. It transported me back 30 years to the Apple Crisp my mother made when I was a kid. So "comforting" and tasty!

Steve's Black Sabbath BBQ is a winner and you really ought to check it out, right away. The staff is very welcoming, helpful, and just fun to talk to, especially the owners. You'll have a wonderful dining experience and enjoy good Texas BBQ beef and pork like it was meant to be, and it's local. No more...

On Aug 30th My sweet hubby took me to Steve's Black Sabbath BBQ, and I wanted to share my review. First off the food is PHENOMENAL!!!!! I can't say enough how good the food was, BEST AROUND, HANDS DOWN!!!! This is Real Deal Authentic Texas BBQ and will speak for itself once you arrive, but the sense of community and friendly, hospitable, family backyard BBQ vibes this place gives will keep you coming back. Spoke with Rich, one of the owners, today and I feel like I made a new friend. He came and sat with us at our table for a few minutes between duties, taking and laughing like old friends It took a minute to get through the line only because he(Rich) was taking orders, and I watched him talk personally to everyone in line, making them also feel like old friends. Today, they honored the Vet's with a Bike ride and smoked whole hog for the most scrumptious lunch with a raffle, Plus they had a great band playing live music. We sat next to the river, listened to the band, ate our AMAZING BBQ, and had one of the best Saturdays spent in a while. Please do yourself a solid and treat you and your family to a really really REALLY delicious night out. Rich, Thanks for the Peach Cobbler and Conversation Steve, Thanks for the Absolute BEST BBQ we have eaten in a LONG TIME!!!! P.S. You Guys GOTTA try the...
