I loved coming here with my daughter for the food and service, but last night ended our business with this location. I came in with my parents and ordered a bowl of soup and desserts. The cashier, at first, seemed like she was tired and mentally checked out (who hasn't had one of those days). She took our order and within minutes we received our items. So, the soup was cold... And I mean, refrigerator cold. And we ijnitially asked if we could have the pie warmed, but it was cold as well. We asked the same cashier if we she wouldn't mind warming up the pie, and she responded with a loud, irritated tone "You want it 'heated' up?" and clearly did not want to be bothered. Again, we figured maybe it was a long day for her.
Unfortunately, I accidentally spilled my water cup and we got napkins to clean the mess while the manager and two cashiers saw what had happened (because they were staring right at us) and then visibly turned their backs as if they didn't see anything and returned to their gossip, even though we were seated right next to the cashier counter, in clear view. When I went to ask for a mop so no one would slip, another family came in to eat. And this is when things became apparent... As the other guests came to order their food, the cashier looked at them, roll her eyes back at the other employee and sighed heavily as if she was inconvenienced by the family coming in and ordering. I wasn't the only one who noticed this reaction and I overheard one of the members in the family say "well, she's in a bad mood..." and that made me confirm my own feelings on the matter. Because the one cashier was busy with the guests, I asked the other employee if she could get me a mop so that I can clean up the floor so no one slips and she walked to the back. Ten whole minutes later she appears with two towels and gets on her hands and knees to wipe up the water. I apologized profusely and thanked her but she didn't say anything. She stood up, and I thanked her again, and she tightened up her jaw and made an effort to not make eye contact with me. This made me feel worse about accidentally spilling my water. On top of that, after putting her hands and knees on the floor, she DID NOT wash her hands AND continued to prepare kid meal packs.
My parents and I felt the tension and quickly finished so that we could leave. As we were leaving, I waved the cashiers a 'thank you' but they were so engrossed in gossip about how much they hate their jobs (and yes, it was loud enough that I could hear it) that they didn't hear me. So I went up the the counter, and expressed that if they spoke less about how much they hated their jobs, then they would actually hear their guests. And our initial cashier asked me "you mean with the mom?" Umm... what? I looked at them as they stared back at me, and then just as I started to walk away, the cashier (that begrudgingly mopped up the water with her hands) rolled her eyes at the other cashier. I stepped back into view letting her know I saw her reaction and it was entirely rude and uncalled for.
I told the manager but its hard to express this behavior when she has enabled it in the first place (i.e. gossiping, not helping guests to prevent a further accident, or not up-keeping on cleanliness from employees). This visit made my parents and I heavily uncomfortable and disgusted. We really loved this place but last night surely...
Read moreI'd love to offer some feedback. When we came into this location, we were discussing our options with the cashier, but the line staff seemed to think we had actually ordered something. So they went ahead and started grabbing items before we had finalized the order. For example, they got an apple juice when we had actually decided to get a fountain drink. This was only slightly frustrating until they yelled out a sandwich order that my husband wasn't ready for. My husband is very prone to pressure and felt like he wasn't being given a choice to change his mind. I was also told that some ingredients were out for a specific salad. So I agreed to get it without the missing ingredient. We paid for the order. After a few minutes, the cashier came over to inform us that they were out of more ingredients than she had originally thought. So I ordered a different salad. I needed it without cheese. I have an allergy, and this isn't just a preference thing. I ordered both times sans cheese. But when I received my salad it had cheese. So I begrudgingly removed it myself. I noticed there wasn't much dressing provided so I asked for another one. They told me it was an upcharge and to go through the line again. You folks messed up the order twice and then were going to charge me for a little cup of dressing! That is really poor customer service. Please train your staff on what to do in these situations. My husband had to go up to the counter and show them the cheese before you agreed to comp the dressing. This experience really left a sour taste...
Read moreWell I keep trying to like the Ogden Kneaders location, the Layton location is 100% fantastic at all times. I have had several issues with the food quality at Ogden. Today I wanted to leave my mom a surprise breakfast for her birthday. I ordered a french toast combo with fruit. The gal advised they were out of fruit. No explanation, seems strange. I asked if they would sub the fruit for a pastry. The sweet gal working the drive thru comes back and says, "No, I asked, you can purchase the pastry combo. " I guess giving away $2 extra dollars seems unreasonable to the assistant manager Jasper. Now if this is not a front line decision, and this is a manager decision, maybe this location should consider opting in for these requests. I work as a sup for a high level company and we bend over backwards for our customers, as we understand the value of a happy customer. So this $2 pastry just lost this location my business for life. As I told the managers at this location previously, you should probably visit and eat at the Layton store once in a while. They understand and value their customers....
