Against our better judgement, we tried going back to Tokyo Station. The chef under or over cooked three of the steaks in our party, and at first just asked if that was okay. When we insisted our steaks be cooked as ordered, the chef got more steaks from the kitchen and cooked them right, but in doing so let the shrimp and salmon orders go way too long.
Finally, the server never brought our checks. We had to go get a manager after waiting around ten minutes minutes so we could pay for the experience.
Glad to say the shrimp routine has improved from last time though. I'm leaving my original review up for comparison.
Will absolutely not be wasting our money here again.
We've had good experiences in the past at Tokyo Station, but the last few times we've gone there's been a noticeable lack in service and quality. Our visit yesterday was finally bad enough I had to say something. First, a couple people in our party ordered the "Feast for Two". The appetizers never came out, and at the end of the meal the server told us they had just decided to not do the appetizers and the chef was just supposed to "give them something extra" during the meal to make up for it. This was never communicated during ordering, and the only "extra" was a portion of fried rice - presumably skimped from another parties portion. That's not "extra". Also, they don't do the dessert anymore, which was also not communicated. Second, the chef left the vegetable medley on the grill and didn't serve it until the very end of the meal, after we all had already eaten our noodles and most of our meat. By then they were mostly cooled off and mushy. Finally, their "catch the shrimp" routine is awful. Instead of tossing shrimp to everyone who wants to participate, they've started this thing where the chef mercifully pommels one person with flying shrimp - usually the prettiest girl at the table - to the point where it borders on bullying or abuse. It's downright rude and not fun at all, unless your idea of fun is laughing at the person being attacked. I don't think we'll be going back unless and until we hear of improved practices. Until then, Tepanyaki and Kobe are...
Read moreThis was my first time at the Tokyo station. The decor in the waiting area was what you would find in a Japanese culture. I did like the wraparound couch. As we were seated it was similar to that of teppanyaki grill in Layton. Many varieties of sushi rolls were available and the grill options consisted of chicken filet mignon and steak and shrimp. For an upgrade you can get fried noodles. The chefs really put on a show from starting out with rice and moving on to vegetables. Kids will have fun and adults alike when they cut an onion and make a volcano out of oils and light it on fire. It was quite the spectacle. Moving on the chef one by one will fill the plate of those sitting around the grill. It's usually 8 to a table and if you come with your spouse or as a couple you will find you'll be sitting with a group or people that you're not accompanied with. Throughout the presentation of cooking your food the chef will cook shrimp and throw them up in each person can choose to catch it in their mouth. This can be fun or as my wife tried hit her in the eye, so be careful. They have a variety of appetizers as you are waiting for your food to be cooked we had the fried wontons and our neighbors next to us had some egg rolls and some sushi rolls. The quality of food here is really good. If you're going to sit down at the grill it's probably you're going to spend around $70 if you're going to get two meals and appetizer and drinks. If you're looking to have a quick meal this is not the place to go as part of the ambiance is a dinner and a show as your meal is being cooked. Although if all you're looking for is a sushi roll I'm sure they could bring it out fairly quickly. The only thing that kept me from giving this a full five-star rating is sometimes I will sit back and contemplate as to was this meal worth what I paid for it. Although I felt the food was really good I sometimes wonder if it's a little overpriced. If this is a new location for you I would suggest definitely go and try it. It's fun for all ages they do have a kids menu I did not look closely at the prices but they were definitely less expensive than a...
Read moreI worked for this company for ONE DAY. I was hired and I went and bought the outfit they wanted me to wear and the required nonslip shoes (that NO ONE ELSE WORE.) I worked for FOUR hours , I did really well that day even though I could hardly understand the Asian woman that taught me everything. I was make soups and salads and filling drinks and taking orders all within the first hour of being there -- I was doing MORE than what was expected of me as I was just supposed to follow Muti around. At the end of the day the manager who hired me asked how I liked it and the told me what to expect the next day.
Well, next morning comes and I get an EMAIL saying they no longer need my services. I was baffled and confused. I even replied asking if they meant to send that to me!
Besides their terrible management, the place is awfully dirty. The waitresses never wash their hands even after fixing their hair or reapplying make up. The chefs that cook in front of you play on their dirty phones then go straight out to cook. The plates, forks & cups that were JUST used go and get RINSED off then REUSED. The salads are not fresh and neither is the sushi. If you eat here, you're lucky to not get sick.
There was a guy who came in allergic to shrimp and crab.... The waitress, Muti, immediately went to whining about the difficult customer asking why he had to be like that and was speaking with the chef who cooked his food about dipping his steak into the crab juice. THATS SOMEONES LIFE YOURE MESSING WITH . They did NOT do it- only joked about it.
Don't eat here. You don't deserve the nastiness and the rude servers and they don't deserve...
