Honestly, not worth the $500 USD. The helicopter ride is way, way to short for the money you spend. I've hiked into the grand canyon, and the views you get are incredibly better. This short helicopter ride, doesn't allow you to see the vastness, greatness or come even close to encapsulating the Grand Canyon. Their website states a 20 minute ride. I can almost gaurantee, that it was not 20 minutes, and about 5-7 minutes of that was taking off, the short ride to the Grand canyon, then exiting the west rim and the fly across a field to landing. As I've seen it before, it was absolutely spectacular to see from a different view, but I expected a lot, lot more. Again, definitely, definitely not worth the exorbitant amount you pay.
If you happen to be elderly, and cannot walk Into the grand canyon. Going to the grand canyon village has so many spots, with free shuttle busses that will take you to many different areas for your viewing pleasures. I would recommend this a million times more, than going on the short helicopter ride.
Our tour guide Micah, was bar none amazing. I want to say the best part of the trip was being around his positive energy, and him sharing cool stories and accurate historical facts along the 2 hour drive from Las Vegas. Had a short stop at the hoover dam - which I have also seen in person. Where we stopped at, in my opinion wasn't the best spot to see the hoover dam.
We were offered lunch, as it was included. But it was a measly small sandwich, with a small amount of sub par cold cut meat (choice of turkey, ham or tuna), with some Lettuce and tomato. A choice of a can of pop or bottle of water. Again, very lackluster for the price you pay.
Not sure if there are other companies around that offer the same thing, but take my advice. Go see it in person, and don't waste your money on this. Not worth it at all.
EDIT : confirmed on the short ride by looking at the times I took photos. Took off at 1518, arrived into the grand canyon at 1521/1522..and exited the canyon at around 1531... And estimating landed around 1534... so only around 9-10 minutes on the grand canyon, and the other 6-7 minutes were taking off...

Let me start out by saying that I am usually all about DIY and saving money (read: cheap) and when it comes to travel, I am no different. For my first time in Vegas, I rented a car and figured I would cobble together a drive to the Grand Canyon. However, as the trip got closer, I started having second thoughts. The day before this adventure, as I was walking down the Strip, I was even having third thoughts, when I happened to make eye contact with a sidewalk saleswoman. It was either fate or my tendency to crumble in the face of the hard sell, but I found myself handing over the credit card.
LET ME TELL YOU, it was a million percent worth it. The tour guide was awesome: friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The van was awesome: clean and comfortable. Literally every part of the day was awesome: the drive, the weather, the ranch, the helicopter, the ATV, the people, the sights, all of it!
In less than 8 hours, I got to cross the Hoover Dam, ride in a monster truck, pet multiple dogs, observe other tour members blast things with automatic weapons, ride an ATV (for the first time ever) into the hills above the ranch, feed carrots to BISON (!!!!!!), explore the ranch expansion, take approximately twelve billion photos, and, oh yeah, fly in a helicopter over a quiet, beautiful section of the Grand Canyon well away from hordes of other tourists. Absolute perfection, and a far better experience than anything I could have put together on my own. DO IT, you will not be...
Read moreIâll get the bad out of the way firstâthe ONLY reason Iâve docked a star is because there was an unfortunate mess up with our booking and even though we paid for it, we did not get to do the ATV experience, which was a major bummer. Weâve requested a refund, so fingers crossed.
Aside from that, our entire day was an absolute blast. Dain, our tour guide, was THE BEST. If you get Dain, youâre in luck. Heâll keep you laughing AND learning the whole day. Waking up for a 7:15AM pickup in Vegas is no easy feat, but once Dain picked us up, we woke RIGHT up and had the best time. Our drive was hilarious, he pumped great tunes, made a few efficient stops to check out the Joshua trees, take a spin in the worldâs longest monster truck, and pointed out awesome little tidbits all along the way.
And the helicopter ride! Honestly, thereâs no other way to see the Canyon. Tom, our pilot, was incredible. Great knowledge of the Canyon, flying in general, and let me just say thisâwhen he tells you to close your eyes. Do it. You wonât regret it.
And if youâve got time after your flight, and youâve got Dainâask him if he brought some carrots to the ranch. He stopped to let us make some friends with the buffalos on the way out! And he made sure to stop at the Hoover Dam for us on the way back.
We highly recommend this tour!! But definitely make sure youâre signed up and down for the right combo if youâve paid for it. We hope to come back and kick up some dirt with you,...
