Mountain Town Olive Oil — Local services in Park City

It's hard to leave a 3 star review, as my first visit was great, amazing selection of delicious products, friendly and helpful staff.

My only gripes were that it would have been nice to have bread cubes to sample the oil and vinegar as I've experienced at many similar places, it's not very appealing to drink down pure oil, especially in the morning, and that it would have been nice to have more options on the size of the bottles.

However, my second visit was a bit different. I was excited to visit the store again and prepared to spend money there. When I arrived there was some filming taking place on one side of the store.

An employee politely explained that that side of the store was closed off temporarily but that he could help me if I needed a sample. No problem. I quietly shopped on the other side, however I started to get the distinct impression that the ladies on the other side were impatient for me to leave. It was very awkward, and then I heard one of them make a pointed remark that it's really too bad as if they had filmed yesterday there would have been hardly any customers, but today...

I believe the owner was the person making the comments.

I felt like a nuisance and an inconvenience so I quickly left without purchasing some of the items I wanted, as I didn't feel able to ask for a sample as I was so clearly interrupting them.

My suggestion would be to close the store if you are filming a news segment.

I'm mixed on whether to go back again. On the one hand, the products I purchased are amazing, on the other hand, the second experience left a bad taste...

I absolutely love this product. I lived in Utah for years, we'd drive up to park city and MTOO was always our first stop. Amazing proprietor, staff and people. 4 years ago we moved away. Then as life does, we were thrown a curve ball. We moved back to Utah; but hey now we can go back to MTOO! Still love the product, but I have to say I didn't appreciate the staff. I didn't appreciate being spoken down to, I didn't appreciate being (just an octave) shy of being yelled at. What! Why you ask. I simply asked and stated that prior to moving several years ago, one could purchase smaller bottles. I guess the staff has had just one to many questions and other duties. The final answer "ugh no you can't buy smaller bottles!" Forgetting customer service. Yes, I'm one of "those" customers. I will never darken your door. You'll never have to worry about answering any of my questions, you won't have to provide me with any service ever. I do truly wish you longevity and success. I'm sorry I was an inconvenience to you and your staff. Thank you for your product, but I've found another supplier of oil. This company welcomes questions and I can buy smaller bottles.

The olive oils and balsamic vinegars here are absolutely incredible! Truly some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The flavors were so vibrant and unique and I already know I’ll be back to buy more. I’ve even recommended the shop to friends because the products themselves are outstanding.

That said, I do want to share a little constructive feedback about the tasting experience. When my friend and I visited, there was only one employee working, and she was balancing checking out customers with helping us sample. This made it a bit awkward, since we had to wait for her to be available and request each sample individually. It would have been much easier to compare oils and vinegars if there were a more streamlined or self-service tasting setup.

We also noticed that tastings were done only with little cups (no bread or other medium), which made the experience feel a bit unusual. Lastly, the employee seemed a bit new or inexperienced when we asked for recommendations or comparisons, which left us wishing for a little more guidance, especially as first-time visitors.

Overall, though, the products are outstanding and well worth coming back for. I’m really looking forward to expanding my cooking, and I’m excited to continue supporting...
