Twice now I have shopped here, while staying nearby. Each time I've had to use the only self check out that has a conveyer belt. Every time I ring up groceries there is always an issue. Yesterday, a guy took 17 minutes checking out 8 items. Finally he was done...my turn. The store was packed...on a Wednesday at 4pm. I had approx 20 items. I decided to use the scanner gun...cuz the guy infront of me had a hard time with the regular scanner. When I start to scan...nothing rings up. I wait a bit...finally an older lady comes over...machine needs paper. I have to wait some more. I was polite enough to thank her and she made no reply so I asked if she heard me. Her only reply? "I heard you." Everything...surprisingly is ringing up fine using the scanner gun...However, the conveyer belt wasn't advancing the food forward. The same older woman comes over and says "nothing is ringing up"...cuz the conveyer belt isn't advancing I show her...the screen shows everything rang up so far....but she proceeds to ring up groceries I already rang up. More time wasted as she takes off items that I already rang up. I pointed out maybe the belt wasn't working because I was using the scanner gun. Now she starts going through all my groceries...without any reason...to compare to what was rung up. A lot more time wasted. I proceeded to ring up some hummus, noodles & Kool Aid (she also bagged my groceries which I asked her not to do... as somehow my chicken disappeared the last time I had an issue with this same self check out and another lady bagged my food. I drove home, that night without my main source of dinner!) The woman she did as she pleased and bagged my stuff. I went to ring up the last item....sweet potatoes and had to use the regular scanner and it all came up on screen...beeped but as I went to pay...she runs over saying the sweet potatoes didn't ring up. She is right about this ONE item. How they are ringing up and beeping but a second later... not on the screen is mystifying. I was so angry at this point I said..."I don't need the sweet potatoes" and paid the bill. Now she sees...noodles...Kool Aid and humus she thinks I didn't pay because they were not advanced on the conveyer belt. I didn't realize at the time what all she took.... but i heard her mumble... I didn't pay for the humus. I showed her the receipt...."I paid for everything...so plz give me back the humus". She never once revealed she took other things too...as I checked the area to make sure I had all my items. Her parting verbal shot? "Nobody but me had a problem with that check out". I told her that was not true! I get back to where I'm staying (20 minute drive.) and I don't have the noodles or $4.00 worth of Kool Aid. The noodles was 1/2 of dinner. Now I can't make dinner. I did call and the manager, named Adam, who was very nice! Back to the store I drive (40 min round trip) ....Adam asked "Jonathan" to get me my things. Jonathan is also a nice guy. The older woman kinda forgot to tell anyone she took my stuff thinking I didn't pay. The evening ended with yet another meal out, as it was too late to cook, and the cost of extra gas to retrieve my items. Walmart is an extra 20 minutes away or Publix is just a couple of minutes further...that's where I will go because their self check outs work! This self check out at Kroger/Pigeon Forge...is a nightmare and I don't like to be treated like a thief! In truth I have been nearly thieved from by the...
Read moreI used to work for this store, and got to see a lot of behind the scenes. It was devastating to have shopped here for 13 years and have my joy and trust in it shattered.
They are constantly understaffed, with minimal registers open on most days, even busy days.
Their cleanliness is absolutely atrocious. The shop vac they use to suck up scraps of produce smelled worse than anything I'd ever smelt when the guy opened it up next to me as I was still training
The floors are always disgusting, with stuck on trash and dirt absolutely caked into the floor.
Service is OK, but definitely some rude people that work there. Most of them are very sweet. Will answer any questions and guide you to anything, but some hate doing anything for the customers.
Court, Barbara, and Darien are my absolute favorite workers here. So sweet and knowledgeable.
Corporate mess of a store. Employees are underpaid, and many said they've never seen or heard of interaction with union representatives.
Wish I could afford Publix every time.
Publix 2 minutes away is genuinely 10x...
Read moreFrom Ohio and this has to be the worst Kroger I've been to since the early 2000s. No shopping carts, not even outside. I understand that the carts inside can run out, bc they do in our extremely populated areas of Columbus, Ohio but there wasn't very many outside in the corrals at all. Normally he I'd just get one from the corrals. So when I saw a Kroger employee walking up with one cart, just one, I asked him if we were able to take that one. Without saying a word he just let's it go towards me, very rude. I said "Thank you", of course no "you're welcome" so as always I helped him out with a "you're welcome". Manners are not that hard! If it was intended for someone else that's all he would have needed to say. Use your words! Inside just looked super old which makes it look dirty. Didn't seem stocked enough but I do get that most places are short staffed. Lady at the self check out was friendly. During the rest of our stay we will...
