I don't know how I always hit the lottery, but I generally do, especially at these types of places. This place was packed when we got there and packed when we left (11:30 am Sunday-12:20 pm Sunday). I just wanted a traditional breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuit, maybe grits. They have that.
What I received was two eggs over easy, clearly the best thing on the plate, but I like scrambled eggs. The two strips of bacon looked nothing like these pictures posted by other reviewers. It was two strips that had barely been heated up. The piece of "Canadian bacon" looked like it had been heated up 10-12 times. Lots of burn marks on it. I didn't touch the eggs, or either bacon. I got a side of sausage gravy and opened the biscuit up, put the gravy on and put a little gravy in the grits to give a little flavor.
The waitress must have been by our table 5 times before the food came but was nowhere to be found after our food arrived. Once she did arrive to check on us, she was told about the mix-up withe eggs. Did she just say "ok, I'll go get them to make some scrambled eggs" ?? NOPE.
She took time to take out her electronic do-hicky to REVIEW my order and "yep, you ordered scrambled eggs!" Really? No kidding. I even heard you repeat it back to me when you took our order. It was as if she had to verify I ordered scrambled eggs before she was going to make it right.
She brought me a plate of scrambled eggs about 90 seconds later. They were cold. The biscuit was cold. The grits, of course, weren't cooked with salt.
It doesn't matter to me, I will never be back.
But if you are looking for a decent place to eat, this probably isn't it. I know, I know, 4.5 stars among 1500 reviews. They gotta be doing something right. Well, the largest section in the grocery store is frozen food. Let...
Read moreAfter being in Pigeon Forge for a few days and having a few hit and miss breakfasts, I was looking for somewhere that would offer a consistent meal. I had seen Brick and Spoon pop up a few times, so I decided to try it.
Walking in, I was greeted and shown to a table. The restaurant itself was very clean and modern. I ordered a coffee and a water, which were brought right away. The coffee was decent and tasted just fine. I ordered the Mountain Chick and Bananas in Pajamas. The Mountain Chick was not bad. Chicken and eggs are always a good combination. I liked the gravy but the sweeter sauce didn’t combine well with the rest of the dish in my opinion. It wasn’t bad but I would have preferred it without the sauce. It was decent but not incredible.
Surprisingly, because I’m not really a sweets person, I enjoyed the bananas in pajamas more than I thought I would. It’s presented as a banana “egg roll” that is sweet with chocolate drizzled on it. Not bad at all. In retrospect, probably not the best thing to have for breakfast but it tasted better than I thought it would.
I thought everything about Brick and Spoon was okay and pretty consistent. Nothing amazing but nothing terrible either. The one thing that I would say could have been improved was that I had to get the attention of the waitstaff a few times for refills on my coffee. Not a deal breaker but I’d rather not have to repeatedly interrupt their conversations to ask for a refill.
I may not go out of my way to eat at Brick and Spoon again but I enjoyed my breakfast there. If you find yourself in Pigeon Forge by chance, stop by and see for yourself. It was better than a few other places I ate at...
Read moreWe visited on Wednesday, 7/13/2022 Around 10:45 am ish. It was our first time & our last time. It was packed and so apparently very appealing to other visitors. I do believe it's a touristy type attraction. I think they probably attract cocktails type customers traveling through the Smokey Mountains. They had a full menu of cocktails. However, we went specifically for the "Beignets" & some coffee. We did actually also order Biscuits and gravy. I gave the 3 Stars instead of 5 stars because the beignets were a disappointment. They tasted like they came out of a frozen food type situation & not fresh made. I guess, I expected them to be more light and fluffy and they were hollow & tough. We ordered Carmel lattes and they were $4 but barely had any coffee in the cup and were more froth than anything. The Biscuits were actually good, but the gravy wasn't anything better than I think Hardee's would offer. We spent over $30 including our tip & personally for what we received was definitely over priced. My husband used the men's restroom and said it was nasty dirty. The best part of our visit was the service. Our server was very nice & got everything right & was truly wonderful. I rarely ever give bad reviews, but felt the beignets were horrible and the coffee not worth the price & the restaurant needs to be aware for improvement. Sorry to say, but we won't return. If I can figure out how to post pictures of our coffee, I'll do that so you can see how obsurd that was, especially the difference in my cup and my husband's cup, his barely has any...
