Tonight, I paid $86 to take my daughter to see her favorite movie, Lilo & Stitch. We had a great time, and she especially enjoyed the 3D experience. However, once we got home, I realized that she may have left her eyeglasses behind, possibly under the seat where we had been sitting in Theater 10.
I immediately called the theater and was placed on hold for about 10 minutes. When someone finally came back on the line, they asked me to give them about 20 minutes to check. I waited patiently for a call back, but after 25 minutes with no response, I decided to call again. The staff member I spoke to said they had looked but didnât mention whether they had checked under the seats. I asked them to please be careful when searching, as the glasses could easily be stepped on.
Something told me to just go back to the theater myself. When I arrived, the theater was still open , but outside door closed with customers coming out of other showings. I waited outside Theater for about 20 minutes, and during that time, I saw a young woman with purple hair( she saw me and turned her back on me ) and a young man who was mopping he came to the door, I thanked him and explained I had called earlier about my daughterâs missing glasses. I asked if I could quickly check the area myself, and he kindly said, âYes, maâam.â I thanked him and walked in.
On the way in, I passed a security guard and asked if he had a flashlight. He didnât respond, but instead followed me into Theater 10. I went straight to the seats we had been in, and there they wereâmy daughterâs glasses, right where we had been sitting. I said out loud, âI found them!â The security guard responded, âYou got them?â and I said, âYes.â I then mentioned, âThatâs a motherâs intuition.â His reply was, âSmart. We have other things to worry about.â
I found that comment to be dismissive and unprofessional. A simple, thorough check under the seats the first time could have saved a lot of time and worry. I understand theaters are busy, but a bit more care and attention to lost personal itemsâespecially those belonging to childrenâwould go a long way in showing customers that their concerns are...
Read moreEdit for 2024: the past several times I've tried to come to this theater, there's been some major malfunction that's rendered the movie unwatchable. Tonight I walked in at 6:20 for a movie that was supposed to start at 6:30 and it was already fifteen minutes into the film. And there was no sound. Was assured it would get restarted with sound. So I sat and waited ten minutes watching a silent movie. A restart didn't happen. I got a refund and left. I'm going to just wait for movies to stream at home, I guess.
Original review below still applies. The women's room had new faucets but still smelled strongly of urine. I canât speak to the menâs room, but the womenâs restroom has so many nonfunctional toilets filled with unflushed urine that the smell is unbearable. Only about 1/3 of the stall doors lock properly, too. Worse, ITâS BEEN THAT WAY FOR YEARS.
Tonight had the urine sauna restroom, with an added completely filthy sticky countertop with spilled popcorn all over it. Then outside in the lobby, thereâs another amazing smell, something foul and unidentifiable. I had to return to the counter twice to get my 3d glasses.
All of that would have been fineâ but then the 3D malfunctioned, rendering the movie an unwatchable mess. I even waited through the previews to make sure it wasnât just a problem in the prepackaged preview set.
I got a full refund, at least. Hadnât even touched my candy or drink. I told the manager all this and she just kind of shrugged helplessly and said that her higher-ups had no plans to make any of this gross, run-down and understaffed theater any better. They donât want to shell out any money.
Edit to add: went back and the sound in theater #10 was muffled and way too quiet. I notified someone but no effort was made to correct it. I gave up and had to listen carefully to catch all the dialogue. Doesnât anyone in charge care that this place feels, looks, smells, and sounds like itâs completely...
Read morePlace was nice when it opened. It's a joke now. Just ridiculously outdated. Sound quality is abysmal and the screens aren't nearly bright enough. Bathrooms stink like raw sewage, AC rarely works correctly...its either stifling warm or like a freezer in there, the theaters are kinda gross...i have slipped on popcorn oil and tripped over garbage, trying to get to a seat.
But ...I went there with my son last week, anyway. I have Multiple Sclerosis and I have to walk with a cane. It is difficult to walk up all those steps, but it's still easier than going all the way to the side of the building and climbing a three-level ramp that takes 2 minutes to get back to the entrance.
So ...we get inside and the place is curiously empty (my fault for not noticing the parking lot was also sparse for a friday evening). Well, their computer system was down. They were only taking cash, and they had NO food available except the stale popcorn they made at 2pm. But they're still gonna charge full price? WTF? Then the snarky teenager at the register is gonna question how old my son is? He is tall for his age. I can't help that, but I'm not gonna tote around his birth certificate with me, ok?
AN EMPLOYEE OUT AT THE CURB TELLING PEOPLE THE COMPUTERS WERE DOWN, THERE WAS NO FOOD, AND ACCEPTING CASH ONLY WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE, YOU THINK??? There was a small scribbled sign on one door...but not on the door we entered.
I never carry that much cash on me, so we left, and I stumbled my handicapped butt back down all those steps and my son and I raced over to the Chantilly theater and enjoyed our movie.
I have given this place so many chances, and I can say I have had maybe TWO positive experiences in the decade+ its been open. Shouldnt a positive ecperience be the norm instead of being a surprise? I will not return to the Prattville location again, unless they close it, renovate it, sterilize it, and hire people that care...
