I recently visited the Macy’s location after spending weeks researching mattresses online. I was excited to try out a Tempur-Pedic and Posturepedic mattress in person, as I planned to make a purchase. Unfortunately, my experience was completely ruined by the poor customer service I received.
The store was relatively quiet, and I had trouble finding an employee to assist me. I noticed a sign offering appointments for mattress consultations, which I intended to follow up on. While I was comparing the two mattresses, I was approached by an employee who, from across the room, loudly reprimanded me for “hanging out on the furniture” and for having my shoes on the bed. I was simply lying down to test the mattress, a common practice at many mattress stores where shoes are allowed on the bottom part of the bed. Her reaction was both uncalled for and surprising, especially since I was seriously considering a large purchase.
When I calmly expressed my disappointment and mentioned that I would no longer be buying a mattress there, she escalated the situation by raising her microphone and calling security. At this point, I was taken aback by her rude tone and assumptions. She seemed to be in a management position, but I had no idea who to speak to about this. I did call the store later to report the incident, but the entire experience was incredibly frustrating.
As a loyal Macy’s customer with a credit card and a planned major purchase, this interaction left me questioning whether I’ll ever return to this location. I understand that the store may deal with challenging situations with kids running around, but as a paying customer, I expect better treatment. Macy’s should seriously consider providing customer service training to their staff. There’s no excuse for such unprofessional and dismissive behavior.
I will not be returning to this Macy’s, and I strongly encourage the company to address this issue for the sake of...
Read moreWe registered at Macy’s in Providence for our upcoming wedding in 2022. Unfortunately they were unable to help us in person, and kept advising to do it online or set up a bridal consultant appointment at the Warwick location. We did not want a bridal consultant, because we did not want a big registry. We spoke with Noom, the former bridal consultant at the Providence location who advised us to go to Maria in Warwick for a consultation appointment. Noom was very friendly and helpful on how to carry out the process of a bridal consultant appointment. but I did not feel like they could do anything to help us there that day, we are both working like crazy and can’t get the time off for an appointment. We headed right to emerald square mall and Maureen just got us the scanner and we scanned our items and we were done! No appointment necessary! We are still confused as to why we couldn’t just scan the items for our registry there without an appointment as they have the large digital kiosk for it. Their argument is that “without a bridal consultant we won’t know what’s going to go on clearance” but our registry just isn’t that serious we just needed to get it done. The store was also not as nice looking as emerald squares. Turns out anything going on “clearance” or “out of stock” that you may scan in person can be edited online. There was absolutely no reason why we couldn’t scan items in store in Providence, I had three employees telling me I couldn’t do that. Either they are unaware or unwilling based on their preconceived notions on how I should be carrying out our registry. The proof is in how easily I was helped in the Emerald Square location; which was without an appointment and the scanner was just set up and handed to us. Despite this I really liked Noom and thought the interaction we had was nice; but none of the employees could/would help...
