Nature First — Local services in Raleigh

This is a relatively new company that has had some issues getting organized. The staff is very nice and the owner is responsive. We signed a yearly contract last September but they did not meet what the contract said they would do and they did not show up as promised, which was weekly. (Except in winter months) This spring after some staffing changes, the owner decided do away with contracts and to limit the services they offer to either mowing only or full service, with other services a la carte. We were not able to get what we wanted with this scenario, so we decided to check other services. In the meantime, we still found the NF team inconsistent in when they mowed, which was blamed on rain. Consequently, the longer grass created issues with clippings left in the turf and in our flower/ shrub beds, creating weed issues. (Note: previous yard services we have used in other places would often mow on Saturday if several work days were missed during the week due to rain, especially in peak growing season). We found the inconsistency unsatisfactory so we discontinued using Nature First. While we paid for services through May, we never got the last mowing. I hope the company is able to improve...

I would not recommend this landscaping company. The quality of work was very disappointing and did not match what was promised. The crew showed up late (when they showed up at all) and often left the job unfinished. Communication was extremely poor — phone calls and messages went unanswered, and when I did get a response, it was vague and unhelpful.

On top of that, the work that was completed was sloppy: plants were not installed properly, the edging was uneven, and the cleanup was careless, leaving my yard looking worse than before. For the price I paid, I expected professionalism and attention to detail, but unfortunately I received neither.

We were very impressed with the work done by Nature First. It was our first experience with them. The mulch was carefully laid and there was plenty to cover all spaces generously. They trimmed our shrubs front, back and sides of the house to our liking and they were very pleasant when we asked them to do something more or different to certain areas. Ike was the supervisor and he had a very professional attitude. He was here to please. Sarah (General Manager) also showed up and helped the entire day, as did the COO. Apparently, one of their crew was unavailable due to illness so it was all hands on deck. That's incredible commitment. They could have easily cancelled the scheduled service...
