Went for an emissions test. Was told that it would take about 40 minutes…which it took about an hour, which is close enough. The shop was busy.
While waiting for my service to be completed, the manager dealt with several customers complaining about how their services had taken longer than told. Several times, the manager left the lobby and told his employees that the store was getting too many complaints for being slow and they needed to move cars through faster.
I watched was my car was moved outside after the emissions test. However it sat there for almost 15 minutes before any employees entered the lobby and helped a guy whose truck and moments before been pulled out of the building. When this employee was paid and gone, the employee called for two more customers who didn’t respond before she called my name.
When I asked my car had been outside for 15 minutes (maybe longer at this point), she stated she didn’t know why as she had just started her shift. I asked if my car could have been pulled from the bay prior to my emissions test being completed and she told me no, that vehicles aren’t pulled out of bays until all services are complete. When I stated my frustration and wanted to know why my car had then sat for 15 minutes before I was attended to for billing, responded that she can only help in order of billing. I asked why my car wasn’t billed before the customer who had just left as my car had been outside before his hood had been closed and his truck pulled from the bay. The employee asked I’d like to talk to the manager, and left to get him.
I watched her walk out of the lobby and talk with the manager and other employees. They were all laughing when the manager walked in and loudly told me that I had been rude to his employee and had made her cry.
When I asked the manager why my car had sat for at least 15 minutes before being billed he told me that I was lying. After that, he didn’t say anything more than what was necessary to bill me out.
As I left, I walked past the employee I supposedly made cry and apologized if I had been rude or made her cry. She told me that I had not been rude and asked why I thought I had made her cry.
Doubt I will ever go back if thus us how Jiffy Lube management...
Read moreI guess they didn’t take me for a car guy. So, I took my Jeep in for just an emissions test. It hadn’t been registered for about a year, so I couldn’t do the on site registration thing. They pulled the Jeep into the bay, and proceeded to do the test. About 10 minutes later, the tech came in and got me. We walked out to the Jeep, and he walked me through his list of recommendations. Since everything recommended was doable in the driveway I opted to decline. The tech says okay, and proceeds to tell me that the Jeep passed the emissions test with flying colors. “18 greens and 2 reds” he says. I say great and head back in. He tells me someone will be right in to get me on my way. Well… about 10 minutes later he comes in and lets me know that they now won’t pass the Jeep because oil is dripping a “steady stream” off the oil pan (Never heard of a vehicle failing for an oil leak). He proceeds to hand me an estimate for about $900.00 to replace the oil pan, and oil pan gasket. I was in dis belief. I’ve been under the Jeep for the last few weeks getting her road worthy. In that time I’ve noticed 2 drips of oil max. Minute I left I pulled into an adjacent parking lot to check on the oil pan… nothing. Not. A. Drop. I get the Jeep to the DMV to get a temp tag. Check again. Nothing. Get her home, and start digging. Looks like there’s a little blow by at the valve cover. (To be expected on a 30 year old 4.0L) but nothing dripping, and certainly nothing that could be considered a “steady stream”. So now I start researching Weber County regulations regarding oil leaks. The ONLY thing I can find is that emissions techs BEFORE testing a vehicle need to make sure that there are no file or oil leaks that pose a danger to the techs. So, in summary: Jiffy Lube Riverdale did not preform a pre test inspection of the vehicle (required by law). Then, sited their own negligence to me as the reason they couldn’t pass the vehicle. Lastly, they incorrectly diagnosed the source of a non existent oil leak, and attempted to basically extort me for an unnecessary repair that would have fixed literally nothing.
Beware. Jiffy Lube Riverdale will rip you off if you let them. Go literally...
Read moreEdit.... I went back this year, because like I said "Normally, I have zero problems at this location (Riverdale.) They did not disappoint. A+ service! And I was in and out of there with no hassles. The waiting area was clean and cool, as it was a pretty hot day outside, it felt nice and refreshing in there. 5 stars guys!
Normally, I have zero problems at this location (Riverdale.) But, this time was a little bit chaotic. I went to do my emissions and on-the-spot registration. They got my papers mixed up with someone else, who had the same make of vehicle. I questioned the price, because it was about $40 less than it should have been. And the address was wrong, but I did live in that city a while back, and very close to that address, so it didn't click. Yes, I am blonde, lol. So I just gave her the correct address. Then, when she mentioned the model of the car, which just happened to be my previously owned car (one year older,) I told her no, mine is this not that. Apparently, you cannot do refunds on state registrations. So, I had to wait for the owner of this other vehicle to come back to pick it up. (She did call and leave a voicemail for them letting them know it was ready.) So, that person could pay, what I paid for their's, towards my registration and then I could just pay the difference. That was the solution. Luckily, the other car owner returned fairly quickly and I didn't have to wait too long. But, I just feel like there could have been a more simple and convenient solution. What if that other person wouldn't have returned for another hour or so, then what? Would they have made sit and wait for an hour? My car was ready. And I tried to pay. They messed up the paperwork. And it had too many coincidence similarities to my previous vehicle and address. The other car was even the same color as my old one. I am laughing now, but, I was very frustrated then. And I would hate for that to happen to...
