Southern Lights Candle Shop — Local services in Saint Augustine

I have been shopping at the candle shop for about two years now. Each time I enter the door, it's to discover new smells, new candle holders and a friendly smile. As I am picking out my favorite (there are so many) votive candle, I listen to the people that walk into the store and begin to relax as they wander through the store and let their senses relax and enjoy all the sights and smells.

They have candles that are created in-store and carry a wonderful aroma. It is not cloying or like something your mother sprayed in the bathroom during the '70s. The store also carries a selection of local and regional candles as well as beautiful selection of candle holders.

The staff is very friendly and informative. Susan Chabot the owner is always ready with a smile and suggestion as to the latest item they have discovered. It is wonderful to purchase from a local owner that cares about their surrounding and carries...

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ACCUSED OF STEALING. We went in on our vacation, walked around, and picked up a tray that we wanted. After finishing browsing, we went to check out and (i’m assuming) the owner told us to “take the tray out of our bag that we stole and leave”. We were in the store for about five minutes and had NOT stolen anything. We even opened up our purse to prove nothing was taken, and the store owner was extremely nasty and rude. We told him to keep his tray because we didn’t want his business, he realized he was wrong and continued to be rude by telling us to just leave. I thought this shop was cute but when I was in there today 12/28/23 about 3pm there was a frustrated mom with some kids who were kinda acting up but the mom was buying something (so a paying customer) and soon as they left the employee started complaining to the next customer in line about the mom & kids and saying how kids disgust her. I was shocked. That’s no worse than saying someone of a certain race, religion or gender “disgust” you. I left without buying what I was going to. I hope the owners talk to her about keeping her thoughts to herself and I hope she never has...
