The store has a great selection but staff is absolutely horrible. We walked in at around 8:40 and were browsing. (The store closes at 9, but hey- we had time to buy something) at 8:50 the staff turn on a loud song on the stereo about leaving, and when that ends, the staff start talking amongst themselves at the register that āif these people arenāt out at 9, we can call security, right? We already played the song and they arenāt leaving.ā I was trying to decide between two items to buy and all I could hear were the staff trying to decide what other song to play to āgive these people a hint that we close soon, and that they need to leave now.ā

First of all, I donāt have your āreceiptā because it is just a slip of paper showing you charged my card. Not anything more. It doesnāt show what I spent 20 dollars on, just that I spent 20 dollars. The āslip of paperā (receipt) that the employee requested not only states the itemized amount of a purchase, but also clearly notes the storeās return policy and the date of the transaction. Those employees are trained to exchange/offer store credit ONLY UPON presentation of the receipt. THEY WERE SIMPLY FOLLOWING THEIR TRAINING! Most places of business follow this same basic principle.
The most unpleasant exchanges are commonly those where the return was attempted outside of the posted policy, and thus nullifying the storeās obligation to accept said return. Itās pretty clear.
