The cost of shipping charged by this firm is based upon the cost of the item ordered; wood boxes are fine for a gift, but unneeded for a gift to self. This problem has been noted in other customer reviews. They seem to have further amended their policy: now when the customer complains about the cost of shipping ( mine was $ 9.00 if not based on cost of item. I paid almost $100.00.
Their explanation?: "Second day delivery"! This was also how the delivery was described on the invoice . I ordered my item on April 17. When it hadn't arrived by April 24, I called customer service. "The item wasn't going to be shipped until April 30!!!!!!!" Since rapid shipping was the excuse for the outrageous charge, holding it for shipping almost two weeks is borderline "criminal." I don't know how they get way with this. Yes, they have nice items, but the fraud used to grab another $ 100. is so unbecoming that I know I'll never order anything else. Kathleen Umrein.
PS: Regular shipping is allowed if you order something cheap enough. I gave it one star because you can't warn other consumers unless you give it at...
Read moreI LOVE this store!! It is an eclectic mix of clothing and accessories, and varied home goods. Everything is very high quality and the prices are amazing. Items come and go -- sometimes a single item comes in, sometimes they have months of inventory of another item. Significant sales change monthly (currently all women's clothing and accessories are 50% off of the outlet price), which adds to the feeling of a treasure hunt. I make it a point to drop in whenever I am in the neighborhood and I seldom leave empty handed. The staff is delightful -- very friendly and helpful. (And they love my dog, and my dog loves them!). I've purchased large, beautiful scarves -- cashmere (Kinross!), linen and silk ones (makes a great gift), pajamas, a beautiful door mat, hats, leather gloves, socks, a lovely set of candleholders, holiday decor (for several holidays), a funky wall sculpture that I love, jewelry....I could go on and on. Try it! But, caution! --...
Read moreWas in the area for dinner and we were early so this shop seemed nice to browse. We found a novelty glass decanter that was on sale. There was no remarks of damage. But once we got home we found that it was broken. She wrapped it fast for us and placed the receipt in the bottom of the bag instead of handing it to me. There was no glass pieces in the bag or in the wrapping, and it was carried the whole time, no chance to be damaged. This was a sneaky trick to pawn off their broken product. The broken piece blended in well with the pattern in the decanter and was not noticed until I washed it to be used. The receipt had a "all sales are final" stamp added it it, even though there is a clear return policy printed on...
