Culinary Crafts SLC — Local services in Salt Lake City

If I could give this ZERO stars I would. Before diving in deep with this company please read this. We were planning on using the space at Rice Eccles Stadium Tower for our wedding reception. They have a partnership with culinary crafts that requires you to use them as a caterer if you rent the space at Rice Eccles Tower. After we agreed to rent the space at Rice Eccles and paid a $500 non-refundable deposit we attempted to contact culinary crafts. After two weeks of phone calls and e-mails that were not returned we ordered our announcements in the meantime with the location of Rice Eccles printed on them. Finally after already having received the announcements printed with the information someone from culinary crafts returned our e-mail. We requested a quote of pizza, salad, and gelato for 150 people. They quoted us $11,800 at $79 per person. We thought it was possibly a prank but they assured us they were not joking. So we asked for a quote for just donuts and gelato and they came back with a quote for $6,000, for just dessert only! Then we told them after comparing to other catering companies that were much more reasonable and provided an actual meal, service, and presentation included for half the price we asked them to work with us a little. Eventually the lowest they went was $4,000 which covered water (they helped dropped the price by eliminating the cost of lemonade haha) and pastry trays. So for $4k they were going to provide water and pastry trays that I'm sure possibly rival what is given at the county jail. So we have to probably eat the $500 for the deposit give to rent the space and reprint our announcements due to their lack of a prompt response but more than that is the ridiculous quote given for simple finger foods and what I'm sure is tap water with ice in it. I wish I could give a good review but this was a very poor experience and I would recommend anyone to save their money and resources by utilizing another service or another method to provide food at a wedding...

Mary, there are simply not words to express our gratitude for the wedding Saturday night. We don't decorate, dance or throw bouquets. What we do is EAT. So we knew going into this experience that food would be the focal point, and our expectations were high. You absolutely knocked it out of the ballpark. The attention to detail on the part of your staff was perfect. Ryan managed everything with such grace and ease. It was an amazing feat to be the center of attention, yet completely anonymous. Several times throughout the evening we had family members come up to us in line to ask if we needed anything - only to see that Ryan had already beat them to it. These are the details one never thinks about when planning, yet can't live without during execution. I wish all the comments could be recorded and replayed because people raved on and on and on about the magnificent food. They occasionally mentioned the beautiful bride, but only as an afterthought 😉. And we wouldn't have it any other way. We wanted people to leave saying "that was one of the best weddings ever" and we achieved that in spades - almost exclusively due to the amazing, fantastic food and your unbelievably talented staff.

Unfortunately words cannot adequately express emotions, but somewhere I hope you can feel the deep gratitude, fun, and pure joy we experienced on that magical, perfect night. You and your staff made it so. ...

I am SO glad that our venue listed Culinary Crafts as a preferred venue, or we might not have found them. They sent us three sample menus, and we absolutely fell in love with one of them, but it was out of our budget. We weren't even going to call back because we were discouraged we couldn't afford them. Thank goodness someone called me back! We told them how much we liked that specific menu, and they made alterations to make it fit into our budget! We had two passed apps instead of three, and replaced one of the proteins, for example.

They were an absolute pleasure to work with during the planning process. Very responsive by email!

And the food itself? Oh my goodness, it was amazing. We got so many compliments on the food! We love that they work with local vendors to source their ingredients. I would recommend Culinary Crafts to anyone looking for truly special food and presentation, you...
