Spark — Local services in Salt Lake City

We took our friends to Rodizio this past Sunday to celebrate their birthdays, and afterward, they wanted to check out Spark. My wife and I had never been there before.

As two brown women in a group of six white men, we immediately noticed the overweight cashier — a white male, dark brunette, likely in his thirties — repeatedly following us throughout the store. He trailed us from the front to the back twice, watching us closely and asking multiple times if we “needed help.” His behavior was intrusive and uncomfortable, and it was clear we were being profiled.

It’s deeply disappointing to experience this kind of discrimination and discomfort within our own LGBTQIA+ community. I’ll be sure to share our experience with the LGBTQIA+ Chamber. No one should feel singled out or unwelcome simply for existing.

This is one WORST place for costumer service! I used to shop at this store years ago for clothing and shoes for my mother. I was recently in SLC and wanted to support a local business. Dale was at the front and I asked for his help but he was really reluctant and rude. I bought a few things then left. When I got home I noticed he left a security tag on an item. I called the store to let him know the mistake and ask advice. He told me “Use a hammer or pliers to remove the tag” 🙄 I tired this method and it tore the clothing item.
