This is the Worst place to shop for the only reason Max Penner! I bought an expensive wallet for my husband’s birthday on February 20, 2019. My husband’s birthday is today February 21, 2019. When I gave my husband the wallet he was so excited, but unfortunately I had a bucket of water in front of me because I was getting ready to mop the house. He accidentally dropped the wallet and it fell right in the water. He was devastated. I told him not to worry because we had the receipt and we would just go and exchange it. Well we went to Penner’s with the wallet in the box it was purchased along with the receipt. We told them the truth about what had happened and to my shock Max Penner said we could Not exchange it!!!! He claimed his store doesn’t have his merchandise insured and that it was leather and he would not be able to sell it to anyone else. Penner’s is a high end expensive store and they don’t have their merchandise insured???? Really???? Who out there believes that??? I guess being honest doesn’t mean a thing nowadays. That’s why Con artists get away with everything and honest people get treated like dirt. Smh in disbelief!!!! Then Max Penner had the gall to tell me I was being disrespectful to him???? I believe he disrespected us by lying to us about his non insured merchandise and because I went in telling him the truth??? I will never shop at this place again because they don’t like honesty.... Beware people, think twice before going into Penner’s at 311 Commerce, San Antonio, Texas!!!!! The response Max Penner just wrote is a total lie!!!!!! First is , the wallet was Not soaked!!!! Secondly you Penner are a young, arrogant, unprofessional brat!!!!! We were Not asking you to resell the wallet!!! Many other stores that Do care for their customers make every effort possible to try and please the customer and make the situation right! You Were Not sorry for what happened!!!! You stated it wasn’t your fault that the wallet was a bit wet!!! No one was blaming you for that! It was a freak accident!!!? The receipt Does Not state that there will be no exchanges if the merchandise is damaged???!!!! You did Nothing but insult us, and now you’re making it worse by insinuating that I would want to take a broken vase back if I broke it????? Do you really call your customers stupid online????? That’s exactly what you just did in so many words. Even your older employees have more knowledge and common sense that you seem to lack. One of them even told you all you had to do was blow dry the wet spot!!!! So clearly it wasn’t fully soaked and totally damaged!!! Get your head out of your behind and try using it with better customer service instead of a spoiled brat lying to try and make yourself look good. You Are Not sorry for losing a customer because one less unsatisfied customer is no big deal to you!!! You did call our son Jonathan to verify if in fact the wallet had been dropped in water. Why because you know you were very wrong in disrespecting us like you did!!! Why didn’t you call my husband after you talked to our son??? The reason is because you’re immature and unprofessional. As far as the rest of the employees they all were very professional and friendly. What a shame they have to work with an A..h... like you!!!! Learn customer service from your employee/ coworkers!!!! A day later and I’m still in Awe about the response Max Penner had the gall to post!!!! The reason being, that Penners was a store that my great grandfather started going to way before the thought of Max Penner came about! From there my grandfather, father, uncles, nephews and even now grandsons would go to for their hats and Stacey shoes!!!! So now due to the childish, disrespectful way we were treated by Max Penner, he’s not only losing one customer but about at least 50 people from our family and friends!!!! Don’t talk down to your...
Read moreI recently visited Penner's to purchase a suit for my wedding, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. After researching tailors in San Antonio, I knew I wanted more than what a big box store or online retailer could offer. Penner’s stood out with their exceptional reviews, and they lived up to every expectation. Mitchell was the first to greet me, despite it being a busy Monday morning. He didn’t waste any time getting to know my style preferences—asking about colors, fabrics, and overall aesthetic. I had saved a few inspirations on my phone, and Mitchell immediately understood the look I was going for. His excitement about bringing it to life was apparent. What really impressed me was Mitchell's approach. He never asked about my budget. Instead, he focused on achieving the exact look I envisioned. Even though I was mindful of costs, he fitted me as if I could afford the best, making sure every detail was perfect. This level of care and commitment is rare, and it made all the difference. My suit was ordered specifically for me, and Mitchell carefully explained the process—from when it would arrive to the quality checks and tailoring. He provided the exact date for a fit test, assuring me that if it wasn’t perfect, they would make sure it was. That level of precision and attention is exactly why I chose Penner’s. Mitchell’s expertise turned what could have been a stressful process into an enjoyable experience. If you’re looking for a tailor in San Antonio who understands the importance of details and delivers with excellence, Penner’s is the place. They’ve earned my trust, and I’ll be a customer for life.
"Edit" Post fitting review.
My suit fit me perfectly, no further alterations needed. Mitchell was just as excited getting my suit out as I was. I didn't have a belt to go with my suit so Mitchell brought out a handful of belts that fit the bill. We made one quick change to my lapel so it would fit my lapel pin better, this was done in just a few minutes, typical of Penners to handle minor changes like this with haste and grace. Penners has truly opened my eyes to menswear as a whole and I expect I’ll be making visits to see Mitchell and his...
Read moreBrace yourselves this will be a long one: I went to Penner's to get a suit with my brother. I'm a former competitive bodybuilder and 5 foot 1 so my shape is odd. They set us up with Zeke. When working with him, I realized the price difference in a high end suit and custom was only $300 or something like that. I figured, I'll go custom. I went the first time, the second, and then a third (standard for custom) to get fitted. The entire time, Zeke and Mitchell told me the fit would be very different and feel tight to me, since I had never had a custom suit. I had a huge fear that things were cut too small and it would be hard to move, had many clothes ruined. Anyway, the suit felt tight, it felt weird and I did not care for it. I put on an old suit that I brought with me and I realized the fabrics were different and the old one looked terrible. I decided to leave, and trust Penner's. Oh, I bought three shirts from them too that I can't get enough of lol. Anyway, I wore the suit a few weeks later for a wedding. I'm normally the type of guy to take off the jacket when the dancing starts. After an hour, I realized I was still wearing the jacket and comfortable. This is exactly what they said. Wear it, get used to it, and you'll love it. 100% true. On another note, it was 90 degrees and I was not too hot at all, and I'm one who will wear shorts at 60 degrees because I'm always hot. I've worn the suit 5 times now and I love it so much. I can't wait to buy another one. If you're still reading, just know this. You do not get a lot of service these days like Penner's. They're all 100% there, but listen to Zeke and Mitchell. For real, just listen because they will not steer you wrong. I walked out disappointed but optimistic to listen to them and I can tell you a custom suit is not cheap, and I will not be buying one anywhere else. No one else takes the time to educate their customers like this. The people that work here are not car salesmen, they are professional tailors and clothing experts. Thanks...
