I had the worst experience with Melody at the Staples TSA precheck. There is absolutely no reason for Melody's behavior. She treated the customers before me with respect and courtesy, even wishing them safe travels. She treated the gentleman who walked up while she was completing my precheck with kindness and courtesy, telling him she would be right with him, turning back to me with disdain. There is no signage telling customers where to wait, so we all stand and wait a good distance back in the same exact place. Melody never acknowledge me. So I just quietly waited. When she finally acknowledge my presence, she ordered me like a dog to go sit over there (in the office chairs with price tags on them in the demo area). Not, "I will be right with you..." like she said to the gentleman behind me. She became visibly angry and started looking around the store for what I don't know, when I brought the paperwork I was instructed to bring with my realID. She looked like she was looking for a reason to deny my paperwork, even though there isn't any reason she could. I can't understand why Melody is treating me with so much contempt, so I asked her, "I am sorry, did I do something to offend you?" Because her contempt of me is palpable. Her pupils are dilated and she is throwing my papers back and forth and slamming the drawer. Her eyes got huge and she snapped back with "I am not here to be friendly friendly. I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to do my job." But she wasn't treating the other customers like she was treating me, and I wasn't acting any differently than the other customers. I don't know if I look like someone she hates, but she clearly hated the sight of me. The General Manager of the store pretty much excused her behavior, saying she has to deal with a lot of travelers and reacts in accordance to the travelers. Well if that were true, she would have no reason to treat me with disrespect and hatred. I did not treat her like that. I treated her how I would want to be treated. I wish there was audio recording in that area, so management could listen to how she treated me. When I have to renew, I won't be coming back to Staples. Melody is on...
Read moreI was there last week. I had 7 boxes and 4 large ink cartridges to shred and recycle. They watched me unload everything right at the front door and bring it in I rolled it all over to the printing/shredding desk. I was not greeted nor asked if I need helped. I stood there waiting for help. Finally I walked over to the girl behind the front counter who was trying hard to ignore me. I started to say, "where do take ink..." she cut me off saying the ink to buy was over there (pointing). I'm like no recycle. She said I can do that here. So I went and got the cartridges which were stacked on the cart with the 7 boxes of shredding beside the man behind the counter who was completely ignoring it. I did the cartridge recycle, then asked about the shredding. She said, oh let me see if they are full and called over there (even though they were standing right there). She said they were full. So I walked over to the man who was ignoring because I wanted him to tell me that to my face, not ignore me again, and I was very annoyed they all watched me haul in all these boxes and said nothing. He said yes they are full and walked away. I shouted across the room and said, "well can you tell me where I can take them? Or who I can call?" He gave me a two other locations a numbers. Then watched me roll the cart away (which was very heavy). I got the cart caught on the side of the pole trying to get out the door. It was hard to maneuver because it was so heavy. A superior walked in the door right past me (had head set on and saw name tag), completely ignored me. No one asked if they could help. I was completely ignored by everyone. There was none there, it was not busy at all. I then went over to the location in mission valley. I was greeted when I walked in and asked if I need help. Had a man help me unload everything. They were all very nice and helpful. I will never go to the Point Loma location again. The people there were all very young - please give them some customer service...
Read moreThis is the WORST office supply store I've ever been to. Not one of the four very unfriendly employees was at all helpful with very simple questions - like, "if the printer I'd like to purchase is not on the shelf, are there any in the stock room." After paging a manager, who never showed up, and waiting around 15 minutes I was told another employee who could help would be in to start their shift in 10 minutes. I had called to ask before arriving if they carried white rolls of paper and was told yes. When I got to the store, an employee stocking shelves told me they didn't carry white paper on a roll. I told him I've been told over the phone 5 minutes previous that it was in stock. I also asked this same employee if he knew anything about ink cartridges, which he didn't, and my last question was where I could find individual boxes for shipping. I was told he had placed all the boxes up front by the register (NOT the banker's storage boxes that were on sale!!). He came back 5 minutes later and advised me the last 2 rolls of white paper had just been purchased. I wandered around the store and finally found shipping boxes in different sizes as well as 6 rolls of which paper! "Oh, that's what you wanted?" Really?!!! I put the ink cartridges back on the shelf, got my 2 rolls of paper and left swearing I'd never be back to this store! The employees at the cash register couldn't think there way out of a shoe box!!! Came home and ordered a color printer online from Best Buy at a much better price and available for pickup the following day. If Staples is in fact merging with Office Depot, I would hope someone in upper management would figure out there's a major training problem at this Staples...
