I haven't snowboarded in 15 years and wanted to start learning before the season. Here are things that's great about Adventureous:
-Adventurous allows you to train in the offseason, like the Summer! -You don't have to deal with the most painful parts of learning: falling. You have the rail in front of you and are strapped to the wall. This allows you to focus on form and try things without the consequences of pain. -Sarah and Morgan are both experienced, awesome teachers. Sarah has been teaching for years and years. -Unlike lessons in the snow, which are typically in groups, you can have solo lessons at Adventureous so the attention is 100% on you and making you better. -In addition, the snow has tons of people, which makes lessons difficult as you have to deal with avoiding everyone and not hurting anyone else while you learn. Adventurous mitigates that so you are 100% focused on yourself and form. -Sarah gives you the option to have part of your lessons recorded so you can go home and see what works and what doesn't. You can't get that in the snow. -I definitely got great cardio, leg, core, and lower back workouts as I did each snowboarding session.
Results: After 6 lessons of snowboarding, the first day on the snow was difficult as the snow is a lot faster and less forgiving on the carpet. By day 2, I was able to snowboard no problem on the greens. By day 3, I'm able to live on heel side on blues. I still am mainly on greens more to do actual carving, but it's nice that I could do blues on heel side if I needed it. I'd highly recommend anyone to go here to improve their...
Read moreI heard about indoor lessons from another client of Sarah's. I purchased the FastStart plus package which include a 1hr introductory + 30min follow-up lesson, and then ended up buying an additional 8-pack of 30min lessons. They provide all equipment such as skis/snowboard/boots.
Sarah was super patient and I found her method to be very effective. You will begin each lesson with a warm up on the slope and perform drills to create muscle memory. I learned the basic skills of edging and how to turn on skis. No pizza and french fry to create bad habits here! I do need to say that this is supplement learning and does not replace actual practice on a snow mountain. I went to the Tahoe slopes 4 weekends (7 snow days) this season and was able to ski blue runs by my 5th snow day after taking 6-8 lessons with Sarah. I made sure to take at least 2 lessons before taking a snow trip. I still have 2 more lessons remaining which I will save for next year to prepare for future snow trips.
If you are serious about learning how to ski/board then this is a great way to do it without wasting the time to learn on...
Read moreI had a disappointing experience with Adventurous Sports regarding their refund policy. I canceled my ski lesson in advance, expecting a fair refund, but they deducted 20%, citing "merchant fees and operational costs."
While I understand businesses have expenses, credit card processing fees are a standard part of running a business and are typically built into pricingânot passed onto customers in the event of a cancellation. Their reasoning for discouraging "Amazon-style" refunds felt unfair, especially since they could have resold the lesson.
Transparency is key in customer service, and I was not informed of this fee at the time of booking. If you're considering booking with them, I recommend clarifying their refund policies in advance. I wonât be returning due to...
