Dear Allbirds,
I recently purchased my first pair and only pair of Allbirds this summer on-line, and when they arrived I found out that they were too small. Before I could return them, I was called out of the country for work, and when I returned, I heard that you were opening a new flagship store in Hayes Valley. With that new's I decided to wait to exchange them in person at the new store. I went up this Sunday, ...the new Hayes Valley store was great, I tried on a few pairs and styles and found a pair that I really liked.
However, when I went up to exchange my shoes, and apply it to the purchase of the Allbirds I had just tried on, I was told that I was past the 30 day return date. Leaving me stuck with a brand new pair of shoes in the originally packaging, that I can't wear, despite you still selling this same exact shoe in the store. The sales associate told me sorry - No if's and's or but's.
I find this deeply frustrating, that I waited specifically to visit your new store, only to find that since I waited, that I was now past the 30 day exchange window. I was left with a new pair of ~$100 dollar shoes that didn't fit and I couldn't return - even though exact the shoe was still being sold at that store. The sales clerk curtly told me that if I wanted I could "donate" the new pair of shoes to the Allbirds donation program I could- since I couldn't wear the shoes...I donated them and walk away deeply disappointed and frustrated.
I went out of my way to try and buy a pair of Allbirds, but instead, I lost $100, wasted 1.5 hours of my time driving up to your store from the peninsula/parking/trying on shoes only to leave...
Read moreI bought the Allbirds flats a few years ago from this store, nice folks, great shoes. Except my feet would stink when wearing these shoes. If you look up Allbirds stink, you will see I'm not alone. No other shoes made my feet this stinky. I would wash my feet directly after wearing them and the smell was still detectable. I replaced the soles with their wool replacement insoles, still gross. I washed the insoles once per week, still gross. Finally, I replaced the insoles with another insole, viola, no stink! Read moreReally bad service. Treated as if we were there to steal their stuff when my wife was trying a couple of them.
We already have 2 pairs of shoes and all 4 shoes have holes near the big toe. When i asked the sales person in the store, they mentioned that other customers stick duct tape inside the shoe if we decide to buy a new one as this is a common issue. I spent $120 for a pair of shoes that didn't last more than 7months. They are surely comfortable but in the name of sustainability it is unacceptable to provide low quality material.
