This used to be my go-to spot after a rough day. I loved the solid, comforting food prepared by the male owner and the friendly service from the female owner. I’ve been a loyal fan since the Ike’s Sushi days, but after today, I won’t be returning. The ‘good for your soul and body’ quality that once defined this place is gone.
I visited today hoping to heal my day and chat with the friendly female owner to feel the warmth I’ve always associated with this place. Unfortunately, my experience was far from that. My orders were overly salty, and the kimchi stew was served cold.
The worst part, however, was the chaotic atmosphere. A group of about 30 people was throwing a loud, drunken party in the small space, completely disrupting the experience. They were shouting, jumping around, bumping into us, trying to engage us in conversation, and even burping loudly. The noise was overwhelming, and their table was so close that we couldn’t enjoy our meal.
What made it worse was that the staff didn’t address the situation. Instead, they encouraged it—drinking with the group and even bringing out a cake to celebrate with them. It would’ve been more considerate to inform us of the private party and suggest another time to dine.
While I’m happy to see the business thriving and grateful for how this place once supported me through tough times, it’s clear the charm and peaceful vibe I loved are no longer there. This spot has unfortunately become more of a Van Ness party hangout than the soulful refuge...

Read moreI love this spot so much! A newly opened pocha with fun neon lights outside and cute vibes inside is exactly what this area needs. They have an extensive menu of both Korean food and sashimi/sushi. It's a fun spot to drink with friends because of the happy hour menu .. that goes all night Monday to Saturday which includes $8 soju bottles, $3 sake and $5 beer!
So many tapas are so affordable that we ended up ordering a lot but we still couldn't try them all. I recommend the corn cheese and al bob (a mini stone pot of rice with quail egg, kimchi, cucumber, pickles, and daikon radish). I definitely need to come back to try all the other food.
Their service was friendly and attentive. They also have this cool challenge where your group can fill a jar with used bottle caps to earn rewards. Will keep us coming...
