Imo it's the best so far comparing to the old classic on Geary/Larkin and the Gyro on Grove across from main public library. They're friendly two Turkish men who has combined 22+ yrs of experience. Their dishes are very tasty and healthy made from home (gyro cafe) and fresh daily*
My favorites: Spanokopita spinach appetizer (or light veggie dessert), combo gyro or Turkish special main entry, oh Mama Mia the French fries is crispy and not overwhelming greasy like most guys. With spaghetti meat balls and juicy hamburger you can't be wrong when dealing with Middle East cuisines (as first timer) and American regular choices in my opinion. Don't forget their Turkish coffee (x3 strong compared to Peet's or Philz as my warning), or on easy side sample their tea. I'm in love with the tea and I'm a born Asian tea drinker hello!
Check it out before they raise the below market pricing on menu since it's still their firsr 12 month honey...
Read moreFirst time visiting this place about an hour ago and didn't quite get the comfy/inviting feel from the reviews. I ordered their lamb and gyro wrap and it was missing the side salad that was in the picture. I wouldn't have been bothered if the size of the wrap wasn't so small. I'm 5'3 and weigh 135 lbs, and the size for me was small. I asked the waiter for the side salad, and he did not charge, which lead me to believe that they just forgot and it was not extra. I ate a few bits of the salad and it had this very bitter taste to it, like a soapy taste; I suppose from them cleaning the lettuce. I bit into the gyro and it had the same soapy taste, I couldn't eat the food and left 90% of it on my plate. Not sure what the taste was and I don't want to find out! I unfortunately can't...
Read moreThis is the most authentic Döner I’ve had in SF (I’ve tried many of them)! It’s the only place I’ve seen that has the meat on a vertical spit, like they do in Türkiye.
I’m so happy I came by, the prices are very fair, the restaurant is clean, and the owner is super nice. I came here twice during the same week to try more items. The combo gyro on a pita, was exceptional, you can tell that the meat is high quality and cooked perfectly. The second time I got the Mediterranean combo place which was unreal (lamb, chicken shish kabob, kofte, and both gyro meats), with rice, salad and hummus. Literally every item tastes good, highly recommend this if you’re hungry.
Lastly, the Turkish coffee is also great! I honestly can’t say enough good things about this spot, you gotta...
