I am a huge fan of Dry Bar. For the past six years or so I have gone to the Del Mar, CA location at least once a week unless I'm out of town in which case I always try to find a Dry Bar in whichever city I am in. I have therefore been to many locations nationwide. There's always music and a great vibe at every location.
But this location has such EXTREMELY blaring loud music it is deafening, overbearing, obnoxious and uncomfortable. I've been to concerts and clubs that are not this loud. Everyone has to scream to check in, and say what you want for your hairstyle. I did not enjoy being in this store because it's just wayyy too loud. If any of the other Dry Bars were this so eardrum bursting loud I'd never go into a store.
I made an appointment online several days ago for me and my daughter. Our appointment was at 11.30am. So far they are 20 minutes late thereby subjecting us to extra time in this headache creating, booming, ear splitting environment.
I hope the hairdressers do a good job. Will update after my appointment is finished but so far I am very unimpressed with this location.
UPDATE 12.00pm. Half an hour late so far.
Now they are saying it will be another half hour making them an hour late for our appointments at least. And we wouldn't know this if we didn't ask. Disgusting customer service. Not what I've experienced at other Dry Bars. The receptionist seemed annoyed that I would dare to ask how much longer. Absolutely no respect for people's time. The very least they could have done was told us they were running an hour late when we checked in. We are leaving. Alli Webb should be ashamed of this location. They are not living up to the high standards and excellent customer service/ experiences of her 99...
Read moreI have been coming here regularly since I moved to the Bay Area since moving in August. I usually have a good time and have a regular stylist Fukayna who does my hair the way I like and gives me tips on how to make it last which I appreciate because I'm not good at replicating the hair styles. But one of my recent trips I was at the desk checking out when the desk person Inga asked me if I wanted to leave gratuity. I had stated that I had already left gratuity with my stylist and she asked me how much I left which I thought was a little weird at the time but I didn't think too much of it at the time and I replied the amount. I come to discover later that I had been charged a second gratuity on my credit card after I had stated that I had already left one with my stylist thru a money transfer. Thankfully I was informed which I appreciate but the action should have never happened in the first place. This was a big oversight which normally makes me look at businesses differently. I hope that that the front desk people are trained to accurately make sure that all transaction are followed to a tee because when money is involved it makes me think differently about coming back to a place. There's other blowout services in the city but I come to Drybar for the convenience and I like the service, i have been a barfly since I was in DC and I Iiked that my membership could travel with me but it's not convenient if I can't trust that I am being accurately charged when I enter a business. I work hard for my money and for it to be carelessly taken for me makes me quite upset. I couldn't find a way to contact the company on their website so I am leaving a...
Read moreYes, your experience varys based on what stylist does your hair. You have to keep in mind, that most of the stylists who work here are fresh out of school. In an expensive city like San Francisco, where you can make much more doing basically anything besides this, you can't really expect more. At 45 dollars, in an expensive city like this, it's a great deal, especially if you hAve long and thick waist length hair like me. All my stylists have been extremely sweet. Sometimes my hair has fallen flat pretty quickly, but having the ability to learn what techniques hold what hair styles comes with time. The stylists here are only meeting your hair for the first time an are limited in products and styles. I would recommend asking them what style will stay the longest for your hair.
I find it funny everyone complaining says it costs 50 dollars. It's 45. Meaning, then people who paid, 50 dollar, are tipping 5 dollars. Basically 10 percent. These stylists get paid by the hour and don't get nearly close to the 45 dollars you were charged. Tipping them 5 dollar is shameful, especially if you have long hair or thick hair that takes a while. I love this place. The champagne and drinks are a bonus, and I love the fantastic...
