Latest edit (10/14): I’m not sure what happened with their quality. It’s really deteriorated :( I go to them every 3 weeks and it’s been happening consistently for the past 3-4 times. Shape of nails is crooked, they make you wait for over 2 hrs even if you have an appointment and are on time. You’re basically sitting there and they don’t work on feet and hands together. They work on other people in between. So they need to work on efficiency. Today my appointment lasted for 2 hrs, quality has gone down too. They don’t wrap your nails in foil to remove your gel. They really damage your nail bed and use the machine to remove gel. It hurts because they go deep. So they don’t care about health of your nails. Just want the business. So as long as you have ample time, plenty of nail bed to donate & damage, don’t care about quality, then come here. I’m sad because when I started coming here few months ago, I was so happy I found a nice place :( and was rooting for them. I guess I have to find a new place. Sad
Jenny is great, but she is only one person. And other people in the salon do not do the job well unfortunately. So if there are more than two customers in the salon you are screwed. Be prepared to sit there for at least 2 hours. It’s almost 6:30 now and I’ve been here since 4:15. This is the 4th time this has happened. Sigh
———- (month ago ————- Love the place. Quick and the manicure (get hot gel) lasts for 3 weeks! People are so nice too. They also do dip if that is something...
Read moreHad a 2 hour break between scans at CPMC. This place was walking distance and had availability around lunchtime. They have OPI, Deborah Lippmann, and Butter for regular polish, but I brought my own. They have a laminated sheet of complimentary drinks, from champagne to green tea, but they never asked or offered one to me, so ask if you want one. A regular manicure and pedicure cost $49 and was done in 50 min, plus 10 min with their air dryer.
Maybe they do a better job with gels or acrylics with designs, but plain nail polish is something I can do at home. The polish is uneven and patchy, some nails theres a gap between the cuticle and some flooded against it. The top coat doesn’t reach the bottom of the nails, so it looks wavy. Even with some slivers of unpainted nail on the side, there’s still polish on my skin. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere without going home first to wipe it off.
I took off a star for quality and service, and another for cleanliness. The space isn’t crowded, but it wasn’t clean. Everything looks like it needs to be wiped down. The towels are frayed and stained, but also bleached. The technician placed a pillow on my lap for my manicure, but when someone else lifted it off a nail fell to the floor that wasn’t mine and then I noticed all the other nails. Maybe they clean the floor at the end of the day, but I...
Read moreDO NOT GO FOR GEL MANICURES! First time here and multiple finger nails were peeling within 8 days so I called them and gave them a chance to fix it. When I went in, they said gel only lasts 7 days and after 7 days they charge to fix the nail. They said something about water causing it to peel (I mean… I take the same number of showers as the average person). Since it’s the 8th day, they told me it’s going to be $5 per nail to fix their botched gel manicure.
So, get this - I originally paid $36 plus $7 tip for the gel manicure. NOW I have to pay more than the original price if SF NAILS were to fix the nails, within just a week of the original service.
Cmon guys, as someone who gets their nails done every month I know that good gel manicure lasts 3 weeks. Do right by your clients and fix the few nails, and have yourselves a happy repeat customer - they lost a customer right here in their neighborhood. Unfortunately, afterwards I found out through other reviews that their gel manicures have been peeling for others too which is not cool. That said, I am all for giving businesses second chances if they remedy the situation, so happy to chat with the owner if...
