Johnnie Ganem's Wine & Package Shop — Local services in Savannah

Have been shopping at Johnnie Ganem's for 8 years, and today, called at 10:30 to ask if they had a specialty case coming in called Beer Camp. Was told to call back at 2:30 when they're beer guy came in and did. He said that they just arrived and they would be put in system and ready in an hour. Left immediately and arrived in 20 minutes. Saw a case and asked if they were ready yet and was prepared to wait since we were early. Was told that "we only got four cases in and we have to take care of our regular customers" even though we were the first ones there and ready and willing to pay and told him we had been shopping there for eight years. So why didn't you tell us any of this information over the phone instead of sending us on a wild goose chase? Or why didn't you say that cases had been reserved, but if you got more in, that we could reserve one too? You just wanted us to come in your store because you thought if we didn't buy that case we were searching for, we would buy something else. Instead, because of your poor customer service and handling of this situation, we will...

We just had the most horrible experience at this liquor store. Surprisingly, it came from the owner of the business,Ganem. My wife and I live in Savannah, we had out of state guests. We walked in to buy wine and saw a rare bourbon on a shelf so decided to grab each a bottle. It was labeled 37.99. When we picked our wines and walked up to the register, Ganem became furious asking where did we find these bottles and telling us we cannot buy them. Then he rudely grabbed a bottle from my hand and scanned it and said it's going to be 55$. When I asked why the price has changed from 37.99$ to 55$ he was still furious. Basically, this situation could have been handled in a professional way but it wasn't. So we left the store without buying anything and not planning to come back ever and recommending you to avoid it !

How about anger management or just quit what you are doing. We've heard from many locals before to avoid that store. Now I know...

I've frequented this place a few times to find unique liquors I haven't seen anywhere else. When searching for a specific whiskey, my fiance and I checked every liquor store in town before coming here. They did not have it in stock, but the gentleman behind the counter immediately made a call while we were standing there and requested an order for us. When we checked back in the order had not arrived yet, so the gentleman made another call immediately and made sure it was coming within the week. They ordered a whole case to make sure we got a bottle. Their customer service is impeccable, so when looking for liquor vendors for our wedding they were my top choice.
