Two of my friends and I went to the Spa since we were staying at the DeSoto. Online, the spa descriptions seemed pretty standard and what I’m used to when getting a hotel spa treatment. I was very disappointed on arrival. The “spa” really seems like they converted a hotel room and just took the furniture out and put two massage beds in there. The beds themselves were extremely uncomfortable since there was no place to put your head in so I had to turn my head on its side and it was super uncomfortable, I could hardly enjoy the massage. One of my friends and I got the “scrub, wrap and massage” service which was extremely subpar. Let’s start from the beginning, they offered snacks which was just water and bagged chips. Then there was no where to change and get into robes, they just asked you to take your clothes off in the room and would step out then come back in. Everything in a spa is about the experience. Something as small as having robes for guests and proper changing area, goes a long way. Then, the room was extremely bright and typically spas are dimmed with low lighting to create a vibe of relaxation. The music was popular songs played on the piano and was too loud. Typically spas have rain or nature sounds. I asked the masseuse to focus on certain areas and she didn’t do that at all but told me she would. My friend received a male masseuse which is fine but even more of the reason for a proper disrobing area. Lastly, they charged us each a $33 charge for “spa additions” and when we asked what that was for, they said for the snacks and use of the pool. Well we were already staying there, so I’m not sure why we had to pay for those things when they would’ve been free anyway since the pool has free snacks. Overall, all three of us, including my other friend who only received a 60 min massage, left feeling disappointed in this makeshift spa. Do not waste your money and go somewhere else that is actually a real spa and takes time to create the experience, Savannah has...
Read moreI had one of the best massage experiences with Shannon at Cabana Spa in De Soto Hotel, Savannah, Georgia. What I liked about her was her immediate kind and gentle nature. She has a wealth of experience you can realize upon her communication style and her skill set. She is a great listener and makes sure you get the most out every minute you have a massage. I have never had a massage with the incredible balance of strength to work out any trouble areas but complete relaxation where you feel your troubles are gone. I had the 90 minute relaxation massage, at the end of it, I neither felt I required more nor felt it needed to end sooner. My friend and I both had massages that day, we both went to Shannon, it was her first time, and it was something she felt she needed to make it a point to get more massages because Shannon was that good. Shannon, if you are reading this, you are the best and I wish you luck with your business and all other aspects of life. You are a good human being, and it comes through with all that you...
Read moreBased on the website images and descriptions, I expected a 5 star spa treatment. What I received was a couple of coveted meetings rooms in the attempt to create a spa. There was no private pool side cabana. You are on the same floor as the pool but on the opposite side of the hotel. The sauna considered of a closet side box in the meeting room. The snacks were room temperature water and juice along with a couple of bags of popcorn. The snacks and use of the sauna were part of an additional 20% charge ($200) of my of my total. This was not a spa experience. I think the hotel is trying to compete with other hotels in offering a spa experience but instead of creating an oasis, they dedicated a couple of small...
