I've truly never had a better hair experience. As a single mom who makes just above minimum wage and lives in Everett, the $300 price tag and the trip out to Seattle is - honest to god - worth every single penny. I found Allegra through Instagram and was drawn to her profile of thoughtful and curated cuts. I've always experienced extreme anxiety around normal salon environments. They were either clique-y or crowded. But Allegra made me feel welcome even before my appointment, by providing a space for me to send my inspirations and details; she also sent informative communications as to directions, operations, etc, so I not only understood where to go, but felt like my desires for the cut was honestly heard.

I arrived early, and Allegra adjusted her schedule to allow for additional time before my appointment to discuss my hair history, previous salon experiences, and my outlook for the session. Her focus felt intentional and authentic - she asked a lot of questions, which I LOVED! I expressed concerns I had with previous salons and stylists. She took time to explain what she would be using on my hair and why, as well as updating me on my scalp and hair throughout the ENTIRE experience (something I had specifically requested). Even though she mentioned products she would be using on my hair, and it came up naturally that the products were available should I want them, I never felt like she was selling me anything. I came in with a very specific vision of what I wanted when I walked out and Allegra knocked it out of the park. Keep in mind I showed her about 3 reference photos. :)

I'd also like to note that my time in the chair was perfection. Relaxing, informative, respectful. The conversation flowed naturally, and I left with a sense of pride and beauty that I haven't felt in a while.

Not to mention the salon is eco conscious, utilizes clean products, and has gratuity free pricing (an absolute first for me!!) which just solidified my new hair home. This is a MUST to add into your budget and make a staple in your self-care routine. I will be doing so.

Nothing but wonderful things to say about Allegra and the team at Zero. I'm gonna deep dive, because I'm the type of salon goer that really likes to know what I'm getting myself into as a new client!

First, I thought the website was incredibly clear and all information was accessible and easy to understand as a new client. Booking was also easy and straightforward. Leading up to the appointment I received instructions and reminders that made me feel super prepared day of.

The salon space was welcoming, beautiful, simple, clean, peaceful, and comfortable.

The new client appointment itself was ah-may-zing. Allegra and I did a deep dive on my hair, it's attributes, scalp health, current care practices and routine. Then we went over my inspo photos, the goals I had for the finished style, and what was realistic for my hair texture. The conversation was easy and open and I felt super excited about what we planned!

The razor cutting experience was like watching a sculptor work. SO COOL. The end result was exactly what I wanted, turning out even better than I imagined. The appointment ended by Allegra walking me through the hair products and styling techniques she used, all of which felt very doable for me to replicate when I did my hair at home (which has proven to be true!).

I received follow up communications included Allegra's recommendations for hair care and styling products with a link to purchase online - something I appreciate being able to access outside of the salon.

My experience with Allegra might be one of, if not the best hair salon experiences I have ever had. Her and Ericka both, I probably couldn’t decide, seriously this salon is something else.

Allegra is warm and professional. Her demeanor is calm, and competent. This was my first time ever meeting and working with her, and I never once doubted that I was in excellent hands. Her knowledge and dedication to her craft emanates off her not only in the way she would explain her process and answer questions thoughtfully and seamlessly, but in the way she moved around my hair and the salon with a grounded, quiet confidence.

Where I have at times in other salons felt nervous to be transparent about my hair routine or products I use due to budget or whatever the case, I knew I was in a judgement free zone. Our consultation was genuine, met me where I was at, and I felt heard. Not just during the consultation, but throughout, and by the finished result. Needless to say, I will gladly drive from Portland to Seattle to see Allegra again in the future.
