I am an avid baker and my partner is a home chef. We love browsing cook and bakeware and buying the occasional treat for our kitchen. I have always wanted to go to Sur La Table in Pike, but have never gotten the opportunity. Today we finally had the time and decided to stop in and look around. We werenât helped for a little while until an older gentleman started talking to us about glass mixing bowls. It was a pleasant and normal interaction. Not a minute later an older lady interrupts to direct us to the clearance section. We werenât looking at anything specific in that moment, so she clearly wasnât trying to help us by saving money. And she didnât even ask if we were looking for something specific, or even said âCan I help you?â. I had never been so wrongly profiled like this before. Was it because I was wearing a T-shirt and jeans? Do I look âpoorâ to them? Was it because Iâm in an interracial relationship? Is it just because we are young? We left the store immediately after that, absolutely fuming at what had just happened. As we left, I turned around and saw that a younger male employee had walked outside the building to watch us leave. We hadnât even been in the store for 10 minutes. We were discussing our wedding registry and to be treated like trash was shocking. I will never visit this location again, and I honestly hope that the employees involved get some sort of training or talking to because that was unacceptable. Thank you to the gentleman talking to us about the bowls for doing the absolute bare minimum at being a decent person.
TL;DR I do not recommend this location of Sur La Table unless you want to be wrongly profiled by a bunch of stuck up white people. Very disappointing.
Edit: After reading some previous reviews, it is clear that this has been a problem for a while and I will be contacting...
Read moreGood morning, I had a fantastic team with Kendall at the helm assisting me in outfitting a satellite kitchen with All-Clad pans, cutting boards, Shun Knives, Mandolin, butter curler, I can go on and on, she went above and beyond locating, advising and suggestions including purchasing the Reidel glasses online for a better deal with the boxes of 8 red and white wine glasses instead of multiple 2 box packages, she also helped price shop for the half sheet pans we needed. It all started with a phone call with a few questions next thing I know she was pulling items from the back and holding them for me, we ended up purchasing over 40 items that were needed for the kitchen, they helped me secure a parking space and load up the bags and boxes in my car, the 1st time I went down to the store they stayed open to help me after they were closing, needless to say this was exemplary customer service and excellent knowledge of the thousands of products they offer. Originallly I called Crate and Barrel and I'm fortunate that I decided to also call and inquire at Sur la...
Read moreI just called to ask about if they carrie Koonwood mixer and this person had the audacity to spell me the website to where I could get it as (amscum = am scum) just because I didn't know clearly were to find what I was looking for. I find this so rude and disrespectful. I didn't notice what I had spell, just after I google it. I realized. I call again and this time she said amazon. But I had ask her to spell the website and it was not amazon. I tried to get her name but she refuse. Maybe it was all a horrible misunderstanding because she did not know how to pronounce or spell amazon because I heard it differently and spell it as she told me.
Update: Call again this time someone else answer and they knew the situation and were willing to help me and I really appreciate it. This new person said that maybe they did carrie it a while ago but maybe not anymore as it was not showing on there system.
In the image Below shows that on the Kenwood website there are carrier and that is...
