Starpower — Local services in Southlake

We advise you not to shop for a dishwasher at Starpower. They do not have very many dishwashers to choose from. We did not see a dishwasher with the racks we were wanting. Marc suggested the Bosh dishwasher. He said it was a top seller. We agreed to it as the best option at this store. Marc looked at his inventory and said they had it “in stock”. We decided to purchase it on his recommendation. After one day we had the following concerns: The dishwasher door panel bends back and forth very easily and not like a stainless-steel door. The dishwasher racks are not sturdy and move side to side when pulling them in and out and that makes the dishes flop around. The small prongs on the bottom rack will not hold up large items. My dishes fall on their side and will not stay up on the lower rack and the items do not fit on the top rack. The quality of this dishwasher is poor. After having had this dishwasher for months now I can add that it does not clean well either, we must wipe off our dishes after they have been cleaned and it leaves terrible water spots as well.

I contacted Marc about these concerns to see if we could exchange it after one day of having it installed Starpower would not exchange the dishwasher claiming it was a special order, which it was not, and they had multiple in stock.

We went to Nebraska Furniture Mart to look at their dishwashers and they have a huge selection of dishwashers. They had a couple that had the racks configured the way we wanted, and they had doors that were sturdier than the Bosh we purchased. Their sales representatives were also extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We regret not going to Nebraska Furniture Mart before we went to Starpower. We hope to save you the same trouble we have had, as we are now stuck with this...

I contracted with Starpower to design an AV system for my new home. After hours of meetings discussing the requirements, existing equipment that they needed to incorporate, etc., they made and I accepted a three-stage proposal. During the second phase, they ran into a problem with their Total Control-based control system (the one they selected and sold me for the job) not being able to integrate properly with my Kaleidescape system (Starpower is an authorized Total Control and Kaleidescape dealer so they should understand what is required to Kaleidescape integration). I paid them for the labor on the second phase after they promised to resolve the issue for free. After phase 3, the issue was still open so I refused to pay the phase 3 labor charges until the issue was resolved--that was last August.

After touching base with the sales person a couple of times in the 5+ months since then, they seem to have given up on resolving my problem and are now sending me a bill for the phase 3 labor with no resolution for my issues and with a system that does not meet the requirements originally discussed (control over music in my game room). Basically, they have left me with a partially functional system and now are trying to wash their hands of the issue (and me as their customer). Their sales person and accounts receivable department are not returning my calls.

We needed a WiFi and AV upgrade as what was installed by a different multi-media company 5 years ago was a mess. We decided to go with a tried and true leader in the industry this time around, StarPower. Travis came to our home and assessed our current Wi-Fi and AV systems and made recommendations. He was mindful to incorporate any of our currrent equipment which saved us some money. He is professional, personable and very knowledgeable and has answered texts from me well after the installation. Our installation took 2 days and I can’t say enough about Dago and his crew. Dago is so professional and knowledgeable. He was patient when showing us the new system and has answered texts and has called to help us when we needed clarification.
