I recently volunteered.........ahem........to do so 'packing' at this 'slaughterhouse.' Employers, employees, and volunteers -like I- appear to be all L.D.S. They are fairly 'friendly' and 'jovial' chaps as well.
I ended up 'packaging' ground meat. It was very labor-intensive and I was required to work fast -- thank goodness it was only a 3 1/2 hour shift. I felt like 'Rocky Balboa' while I worked here. I felt like a 'Kentucky Fried idiot.' I'm a 'fighter' -- not a 'packer' or a 'butcher.' I felt like that I should be 'breaking the ribs of the shanks of meat'........instead of 'PACKAGING' them.
All things considered, however, I AM -- after all -- the 'original JOHN HENRY': I don't ever 'tire'......and the automated meat-grinding and packaging machines will break down long before I ever do.
That being said, it is nice to do volunteer work here and there -esp. for the L.D.S. church. But 'butchering' is definitely not my 'life-calling' -- my 'forte.' I can't 'sing' or 'dance'........that's...

You will be standing in a refrigerator doing less than strenuous work for 3 hours. Multiple layers would be appreciated. The machinery in some of the rooms is noisier than ideal, so ear plugs, while not required, would not hurt.
