I was out shopping for some new work gear for this season... I wanted to try on a few different things, particularly rain jackets for spring... I had put on a jacket in the middle of the store and had noticed people staring at me... So I had asked the lady who was working there if I could use the dressing room to try on a couple different jackets... Mind you I have tattoos and a Beard I'm well dressed and have my beautiful girlfriend with me... I do not appear to be homeless or look like someone that would be there solely for shoplifting... I have other bags from different places where I had just purchased things... Anyways I politely asked to use the dressing room so I'm not standing in the middle of the store having to hold or place my clothes and items on the ground to determine if I want to buy this jacket. I was absolutely going to be buying one until the lady told me that they would prefer me to try on these jackets out of the dressing room... Not only was I embarrassed but I was frustrated with the situation... Almost everywhere I go I use a dressing room to look at different clothing I'm interested in buying... I've used the dressing room at this store location before and because of my look I was denied that opportunity... I typically wouldn't complain but when this girl told me that she would prefer me to try on the articles of clothing where I was , watching me struggle with hangers and my own stuff to have multiple people watching was an embarrassment to not only me but my girlfriend as well... If Carhartt is no longer allowing people to use the dressing room I think they should have that established when proceeding to conduct business with them... The lady was absolutely rude and continued to watch me and my girlfriend the entire time we were in the store... I hope other can see this review and get an idea of what to expect from the employee's when shopping here... They ask you immediately if you need help, then proceed to do just the opposite when you actually do need help... If there was a 0 star option for the review bar they would have a double 00... Train your employees to be more respectful instead of conducting business like the shopper is a bank robber... Nobody wants to purchase store products from a place when they feel uncomfortable and that's exactly why I didn't purchase the jacket I wanted... You lost my business and I don't think I'll return for my seasonal purchase of work pants and...
Read moreCarhartt was founded by Hamilton Carhartt in 1889 in Dearborn, Michigan, to make work clothing for manual laborers. The company started with two sewing machines and five workers. Carhartt's first slogan was "Honest value for an honest dollar." The company's initial expansion in the 1890s focused on railroad workers' need for strong and long-lasting work clothes. Carhartt worked closely with local railroad workers to ensure that his work bibs met their needs. Within 20 years of its founding, Carhartt had expanded its facilities into eight other cities, including locations in the United Kingdom and Canada. Carhartt downsized due to declining sales during the Great Depression but found its footing again in World War II.35 Over the years, Carhartt clothing items evolved trademark features intended to extend durability, including the use of heavy-duty thread, reinforcing rivets at stress points, and a variety of durable, high technology materials resistant to flame, abrasion, and water. Today, Carhartt clothing is commonly found on construction sites, farms and ranches, among other job sites.3 Carhartt had total sales of $92 million in 1990. As of 1992, Carhartt sold more than two million jackets per year.3 As of 2013, Carhartt had sales of about $600 million...
Read moreGreat Service, plenty of staff and nice holiday deals. My wife and I came into the Downtown Spokane WA store Sunday, Dec 10. We were immediately (and warmly) greeted by a young man near the front. After browsing a bit, we were approached by Kai asking if he could help us in any way, we asked him his thoughts on some apparel (we were shopping for our early 20 year old kids). He gave his thoughts, made recommendations. He was very engaging, warm, and a real testament to customer service. He was so helpful and engaging that I went out of my way to seek out the manager on duty Andy to let him know what a pleasurer Kai was for to experience.
Overall I thought there was plenty of staff for the customers, noon seemed to be waiting, we had our dog in a portable kennel and our cashier was quick to acknowledge her and even say she could come out of the kennel as they loved their fur-Friends in the store.
I have been in Retail Training my entire 25+ year career and know a well run staff. And this store had it. There was a fun buzz about the store, employees enjoying helping customers make holiday purchase decisions.
Our cashier talked to me about their loyalty program and it turns out I was already a member and got a lot of points with our large purchase.
We...
