We've been here twice now. First off I'll say that a good sub sandwich is one of my favorite foods. I try new ones every time i get a chance. The riegning champ of sub sandwiches anywhere (and i work everywhere in North, central and South America) in the world is right here in the DFW; Dino's subs in Arlington followed closely by La Lucha Sangucheria Criolla in Mira Flores Peru. First off, I'm torn whether to admit this place is 99% of what Dino's is because their sandwiches are just that good. I'm torn because their prices are just insane for what you get. These guys basically make you a salad in a bowl with very good ingredients and with lots of salad dressing choices. Then, you can either eat it as a salad or (since I'm comparing this to other sandwich shops) get it as a sub sandwich. To make the sandwich, they take a toasted French sub roll, rip out the insides to make it hollow and stuff your previously made salad inside. It's amazing how much they can actually stuff in there. The first time i went, there was salad left over and i asked if they could just put the remainders in a bowl for me and they rudely said, sorry we can't and threw it in the trash. I was PO'ed and swore I'd never come back. We'll when i ate the sandwich it was so dang good i reluctantly returned a few months later because i was craving a good sub. The other problem here is for their regular price, they only allow you to add 4 ingredients. After that they charge almost a dollar for each additional and IT ADDS UP QUICK. Last night my brother and i literally paid around $34 for two subs. At least this time, the guy making my sandwich politely asked, "would you like the left overs from your sandwich in a bowl?" I was happy to see that they'd remedied that issue at least. As a side note, apparently all the bread that is gutted from inside the sub roll is either made into bread pudding or made into croutons for salads. I bought some of the bread pudding because the family loves it.. none of us liked the bread pudding here; it was tossed in the trash. In summary, these subs are literally one of the best subs I've eaten from South America to Canada but unfortunately also hold the title for most expensive. I don't know what their overhead costs are but if they could find a way to lower their costs and their end price to customers, I'd easily rate this place in the top three. Thier prices however bump it down the list a ways. My wife and brothers swear they'll never eat there again despite agreeing how good the sandwiches were. Me, while i won't eat there often, I'll definitely return occasionally when i just have to have a good sub. I fear that's what allot of customers will do and that's not a good recipe for long term success and I'd hate to see this place go out of business. Sub sandwiches 10/10 Cleanliness 10/10 Customer service/friendliness 8/10 Price 4/10 Bread pudding 4/10 If you don't mind the price, i HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. If you're price conscious probably...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. The first time I ate in, I thought the food was good despite the extremely slow line (about 20 minute wait). The second time, I called in to miss the rush. The process was easy and the food was ready when I got there. The sub-problem was that the food was terrible. The romaine lettuce was so tough that it was inedible. It felt like I was chewing a corn husk.
My issue was not the bad experience. Sometimes, you're going to have a bad day. My real reason for 2 stars is that I went onto the Bread Zeppelin website and sent a email via the link they provided. I explained the issue and let them know I wasn't looking for a refund or coupon, I just wanted to let them know. ...... Crickets..... I never received a response of "thank you for the feedback" or "I'm sorry" or anything. I expected some kind of acknowledgment of someone telling me that either "we had a bad batch of lettuce" or a "new cook" or even a "suck it up, that's the way we serve it". Any of those would have been acceptable to allow me to better decide if I would come back. Since I didn't get a response, what I "hear" is we'll do fine...
Read moreI am very disappointed with this location. I ordered a salad online to pick it up for lunch. I received an email confirmation and the time to pick up was 12:15, and my bank account was charged. So I went to the location and they didn't have my salad ready. Some young girl behind the counter said they don't do online ordering anymore. Well, if that's the case then why was I able to place an order online? The girl just said, "sorry, there is nothing we can do." She saw my order pending on their app by the cashier register and said, we didn't get to cancelling it. Eventhough I placed the order at 9 am. They had 3 hours to cancel my order, and that was too difficult for them to press cancel? What an inconvenience. The least they could have done was say "I'm really sorry, we can go ahead and make you a salad right now this time, but we don't do online ordering anymore." Nope..she just told me to stand in line. I ordered online in advance so I did the have to stand in line at 12:15 lunch rush. Such poor customer service. Not going there again. They need to cancel their online ordering service/app if they don't...
