Heritage Pizza and Taproom — Restaurant in The Colony

Let me begin by saying that this review is 100% genuine and is not addressed to the group that owns this business. We saw a TikTok earlier this week and decided to try this place out. I had my wife order the pizza while I ordered a nice cold beer. She ordered the Heritage pizza and I while looking around the pizzas seemed to be incredible as they came fresh from the oven. Well; the pizza looked amazingly thin, crispy but when I took the first bite the pizza was terrible! No flavour what-so-ever, the dough lacked salt, the pomodoro lacked salt and in general it was a bland pizza that really didn't offer anything. I had to use the salt saker multiple times along with oregano and crushed red pepper. When I brought my concern to the bartender she said she was sorry and just offered to give us salt. Honestly if you have a patron that is telling you the food is not to their standards, you should be able to offer more. Went into the bathroom and no paper towel, then I looked at the ac vents and the one above the kitchen has mold! That is serious health violation, along with the returns that looked like they haven't been cleaned in years. This has probably been one of the worst food experiences I have had in years.

After getting a message from the GM Ashley and wanting to inquire more about my experience I can honestly say that my review has to change! Ashley and Brady showed true genuine interest in my experience and the second time around the food was great! The meatballs are a must!!! The artichoke dip was great; actually first time I have a dip that is not just cheese. Now the pizzas; The Heritage was finally made properly. Sauce and crust had the right amount of salt on both. The dough was moist enough it wasn't dry like the first time. The Smokey Pie needs work; the sweet BBQ sauce, along with the brisket, bacon and cheddar make it over powering. It's sweet over sweet over sweet. I would over a Spicy BBQ sauce (that's what I did when I got home, removed the one it had and added spicy) the flavour changed completely! Honestly if you guys offered a Spicy BBQ as an option you would probably sell 3 times as much. Pork is sweet in nature and when you add a sweet bbq sauce you are not balancing the flavors to give it a bit of salty. I Normally go to this place and I had been pleased with it. This review only reflects my negative experience yesterday.

I arrived at about 5:30 pm and had to wait in an empty line for more than 5 minutes until a lady who was working on her laptop and was obviously unhappy to leave her laptop, came over and took my order in a fairly unwelcoming gesture. When I her asked about a question about choices of salad dressings she disinterestedly responded she has “no idea” ( without asking someone else).

She brought the salad to me with the same negative attitude. And Guess what! I had diarrhea 2 hours after eating the food.

There two things that this establishment can do to improve. First, please require some type training for individuals like this to make sure they understand what the principles behind service and responses to the customer are, and that their own personal work and attitudes does not take precedence over the business of restaurant. Second, please run additional quality controls over what you are serving.

As I stated, in the past my experience with this place has been positive and this negative review serves my last experience with them.

Today Sept 17 (or 18) I visited this place again and I see everything is back to normal (my pizza and salad were excellent) after my last negative review and the constructive response of one of managers. I light of that I revise my negative review and give the place 5...

We came for a family birthday, not really a party. We were able to sit in the back room, and our grandkids could play on the climbing structure, while we could keep an eye on them, but also go back and forth. They have games in baskets in that room, along with an additional TV. Some of the family played card games, "Uno" and a game we had never played before, "Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza" which looked like fun. The staff was great, as always. We had: the cheesy bread; Margherita; Bee's Knees and Pepperoni pizzas. All the food was tasty, and the hot peppers, Italian spices, and sprinkle parmesan are always a nice touch. We didn't have any alcohol, but the unsweetened tea was fresh and the kids loved the lemonade. We went tonight (Thursday) because they do a special BOGO so it makes it easier to get everyones faves. We always have a fantastic time here. Tonight was a little lighter than some Thursday nights we have been to, but we appreciated the extra space/time, to hang out. The staff doesn't rush you out, but it's obvious there are times when people have been done, and they finally give up a table. If you have leftovers, there are rectangular boxes with the triangular tabs to make taking leftovers easy. I believe you can get boxes as well, if you have more leftovers than will fit in a box.
