The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill. My wife and I tried this restaurant today for the first time and we were surprised. I wished we had been trying them since they opened. The place is in a strip center at Grandscape, so we did not expect ambiance. The dining area was clean and looked well maintained. We both had “The Great Greek Gyros” along with the Combo Deal (one side and a drink) added. I know little about Greek food and my wife is Vietnamese, so we were both novices. Learn from our mistakes, please. We initially believed the options included Beef, Lamb, and Chicken. However, we were informed that Shrimp is also available, despite it not being listed on the menu. If you make a request of just Beef, just Lamb or Shrimp you will have $2.00 to $3.00 added to your meal. We could not locate any mention of that in the Menu. So please, if you order a “Great Greek Gyro,” it comes with either a Beef/Lamb Combined (red) or Chicken (white) protein. If you order anything other than those two options, it will cost extra added to the meal. We did not realize our mistake until we reviewed the Ticket. This needs clarification through the menu, posted signage, verbal explanation, or a combination of these methods. Just to make sure there are no hurt feelings in the future. I have read reviews about rude help, but we never saw anything close to it while we were there. We do not have a huge amount of experience with Greek Food, but we know good flavors and fresh food when we experience it. The Great Greek Grill provided nothing but the best. The Gyros were great and good sized. I will not order a side; the next time I order a Gyro. Just the Gyro is enough food. I am 70, it along with the side, was too much food for me. My wife had a side Greek salad, and I had Feta Fries, and we shared. I am not sure what the full-size Greek Salad looks like in size, but I can tell you it was very tasty. Both of us loved Feta Fries and my wife is not a Feta cheese fan, yet. The Iced Tea was freshly brewed and great. They served us on actual plates with metal cutlery. Three small improvements I would make. Pay more attention to descriptions and explain substitutions and add-ons within the menu. Consider increasing the font size on the walk-up menu or providing hand-held menus for people with impaired vision. Buy longer Drink straws, by three inches, and proper sized drink lids (one-eighth” diameter too small) for Paper Cups. We will be regulars and try the rest of the menu. Kudos to David Espin, Director of Operations. Try this place, you will not be disappointed. We give this place 5,...
Read moreThe food here is average to low. It does not taste as great and it is extremely expensive. i can get a chicken kabob at a restaurant for $17! Prices are absolutely outrageous for mediocre fast food. Kids meals are the price of a regular meal ~$10-$12. Also, tables outside were dirty, we asked for one to be cleaned. The girl who cleaned it came out with scarce paper towel and some water on it and proceeded to wipe down 3 different table with it! Basically just spread all the dirt and germs. I can only imagine their kitchen cleanliness protocol.
Update after vendor response: the two skewers of chicken cost $12.95 a month ago. I understand there is inflation and that fresh food costs more but the increase is substantial. The flavor and quality is not there for the price is my point. I have been here several times and am not basing my review on one visit! The cooking and portions are not consistent. Also, 12 oz of chicken is an excessive serving for the average person and the chicken does not reheat well if taken as leftovers. The rice that comes with it is very little if you expect someone to eat 12 oz of chicken. I always take some chicken home and no rice or side because they are so small. You should have an option to allow the customer to choose 1 skewer or two or have two separate meal sizes and include more sides in the large meal. I got a half filled tiny container of sauce for 2 chicken skewers. The proportions of food...
Read moreVery disappointed. Have been looking forward to trying The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill and now regretting the decision.
Phone order - tried 20 minutes and would not process. (Trying not to go in due to COVID OMICRON except to pick up order). Epic failure #1
Came in to order
LARGE GREEK SALAD Crisp Romaine Hearts, Fresh Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Red Onions, Kalamata Olives, Greek Feta and Fresh Herbs & add Gyro meat. Also ordered
CHICKEN SOUVLAKI Entree with Feta Fries (+$1) instead of regular fries:
“Two Skewers of Grilled Chicken Served with a Side Salad, Tzatziki, and Pita Bread Plus Your Choice of Rice Pilaf, French Fries or Feta Fries”
Also added Appetizer: TZATZIKI Greek Yogurt with Cucumbers, Garlic and Fresh Dill
Fail #2 - 30 minutes to get to go order.
Fail #3 - missing salad from Dinner Entree even though confirmed when ordering.
Fail #4 - GYRO MEAT was dry and not good. Really sub standard quality and taste.
Fail #5: The chicken SOUVLAKI skewers chicken was hard and dry and severely overdone. Truly inedible even when cut and slathered with TZATZIKI sauce.
Tossed them away.
Based on this experience, can’t think of any possibility of a return.
So sad. It’s certain that a lot of resources were put into advertising and internet marketing just to get me into the door. It will be much harder to get me to return. Wife was also seriously disappointed. Went to a National fast food chain for...
