My family and I have stayed in several Staybridge Suites Hotels - we like the brand and have booked in various locations before our stay here at The Colony/Plano TX. Out of all of the Staybridge Suites Experiences we have had, this is the worst, and I will never stay here again and would not recommend staying to anyone I know. ||||The only plus I can mention is that it's location is near a lot of nice restaurants, bars, shopping opportunities and such. That's all the good I will remember. ||||We booked as a family of 2 adults and 4 little children (included the age as well) and they put us on the top/4th floor. Kids are active, like to run/jump around, go outside etc. A placement on the lower level would have been a much better accomodation. ||||They needed to do repair work on the elevator on some days during our stay resulting in the guests not being able to use any of the two elevators on one occasion without notice or any accomodation. Upon asking the front desk (female staff at that time) about when they would work again, because I have a knee injury and had to take the stairs from/up to 4th floor, I just got a shrug of indifference like: "sorry, not my problem." ||||The breakfast, oh that sorry excuse of a breakfast they offer ...The layout of the breakfast buffet is somewhat the same in all the Staybridge Suites Hotels, so I think I can make a fair comparison. The quality of the food is below average. The ONE sort of bagels they offer is rock hard (three days in a row, the same rock hard buns). The soda/fountain drink machine was "out of order!" during our whole stay (almost two weeks) and the juice drink machine didn't offer cranberry juice like all other Staybridge Suites we stayed at - only apple and orange juice (as well as lemonade and water) but the orange juice was spoiled on more than one morning ....like "not drinkable"-spoiled. coffee/tea station has not the same size cups all other Staybridge Suites have, only small styrofoam cup and NO LIDS. Seriously?! Spilling hot beverages over yourself, others and the hotel is a given with that (and it happens more than often as large spilled coffee puddles in the elevator proved)||The variety is...not there. There simply is NO VARIETY. Starting with the plates that only come in one size and no small bowl-like plates, to the cold drink offers (broken machine, lack of juices or spoiled ones) to the food. I already mentioned the rock hard bagels, and there was only one kind of bagel (plain). Seldom did they have two kinds of yoghurts, and fresh fruit??? Forget it. Every other Staybridge Suites we stayed in during the same period of months had fresh fruit cups or whole fruits (apples oranges bananas). The warm food (it was never hot when I got to it) is tasting very bland and just not really good: eggs are on the watery side, bisquits and hash brown patties are mushy, the potatoe pieces are either mushy or hard depending on what bit you bite on. After 3-4 mornings I went to breakfast with a feeling of: ugh, not again. ||||The attitude of cleaning staff is very nice, whenever I came across someone in the hallway or elevator area they smiled and greeted and I wish they would teach the reception and kitchen staff how to do that - because those are lacking this smiling, friendly greeting gesture big time. The woman working the kitchen/breakfast area during our stay always gave of a very annoyed vibe. Like she does NOT want to be at her job and especially not see any guests (work) or low and behold speak to one or be askes something. If someone asked something...let's say something simple like how long the breakfast is open, she would give a very annoyed one word answer with a big sigh, like: What do you ask me for?? I witnessed it on several occasions.||Also they are not doing the social on monday, tuesday, wednesday like other Staybridge Suites in States with far more restrictions in place. My opinion: they just can't be bothered doing it, just like fixing the soda machine or offering a good quality breakfast in general. It all has "lackluster"written all over it, in bright Neon letters.||||The reception/front desk staff has one guy who has been friendly and accomodating enough to the standard we know from other Staybridge Suite locations. The other staff (especially) the women were not that welcoming. I always felt like, I (the guest) didn't want to bother them. And when I did (about the rock hard bagels, about the elevator not working at all, about towels and bathroom tissues) it was always a short, not-able-to-accomodate answer or simply the towels put on the counter without a word or look at us. (like: here, no go away!).||||The room itself was average at best. The couch had a whole in the cushion , the drapes did not fully close, the pillows were out in the wrong pillow cover (soft and firm all switched and did not match the pillow), the beds were saggy, like you always felt you will roll towards a slump in the middle. The towels were like sandpaper, nothing soft about them. The hallway and elevator had a very very intense bad smell on 2-3 days. It was so bad I had to hold my nose closed and breathe through my mouth only. I don't know what it was....On other days there was clearly cigarette smoke being noticable throughout the hallway even though it's branded as a non-smoking hotel.||||They have an outdoor pool, that is fully working, fountains are splashing, colored lights in the everning and everything but it's "closed for the season". In Texas. I mean, yes, there might be some cooler days and nobody is forced to go into the pool, but IF you have it turned on and fountains and lights working anyways why not let guests use it??? WHY???? Especially families with kids have a hard time explaining to the kids why they can not use it, despite being in full display, turned on and working. ||||I could go on and list more things, but that's enough time I want to spent on this review. I will definitely NOT STAY HERE AGAIN, and NOT reccommend it to...
Read moreI HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY IN MY LIFE!!! My family & I are going through a hardship and needed to stay at this hotel for 8 days while our new apartment is getting ready! My partner had 2 brain surgeries this year & everything is on me until he is back to work. We unexpectedly had to find an extended stay which was very difficult for us on top of having to pay moving fees and over all life expenses. The first day Nov 5th I called to reserve the room & I spoke with a lady name Krusha. She was rude before she even saw me. I told her about our situation and asked if I could pay daily instead of all at once because I drive for Uber & could make the money daily she said if I can NOT afford their rooms nightly then I should consider the holiday inn. Which was very insulting & insensitive. I explained to her that her hotel was a better accommodation for my family & I & I CHOSE their hotel. Once I checked in I was told as long as the room is paid by or before 12pm noon daily we were ok to stay. So the next morning I woke up at 4am to make sure I made the money before or by noon. At 11:50am my son called me to tell me a young man came to the door and said the attendant krusha told them to advise us we have 30mins to grab our things and leave!! She stated she had placed a call to me multiple times & there was no answer. So after my son hung up, I called the hotel to speak with krusha just to find out they had a old number on file for me (due to the fact that at check in it was not updated because I was never asked to verify number I was only given the room keys and check in paperwork because the attendant stated she was told by krusha I would arrive and paperwork was already done I only needed to sign!) so krusha was calling the wrong number! Instead of becoming irate in my calmest voice I advised her that this was unacceptable and I will be getting a lawyer. I told her to take my payment and I no longer want to speak any further! I reassured her that the payment will be paid no later then 12 noon DAILY until the 13th of November. On Saturday the 9th at 11:40am I placed a called to the hotel to make my daily payment. As I had done everyday for the past 4days to make the daily payment. There was no answer so I placed a call to my 14yr old son and asked him to run down stairs to let the front desk know I am trying to call. My son placed me on speaker phone & MAX the manager told me he can NOT take my payment because the room has been rented out and we needed to move from our king suite to a queen suite or pack up our items to LEAVE there were no more king suites available. I advised we had been occupying the room for 4 days and I was told I could make my payments daily & our room would remain ours until the end of our stay! He said weekends are busy and he could not hold it and we were forced to leave!! The trauma and racism we received was unbelievable. I have never been so disrespected & mistreated in my life!!! My family & I DID NOT DESERVE THIS TREATMENT and I WILL be getting a lawyer! This was pure evil &...
Read moreOur washer drain line fell victim to the Texas arctic blast and we had to stay here for 7 days while our wood flooring was replaced. The restoration crew originally estimated a completion date of March 12th, but they actually completed the work on March 5th, a full week ahead of schedule. We are locals and live approximately 1.7 miles from here, so it was convenient and did not require a great deal of travel time. Smooth and efficient experience from check-in to check-out. I have to give this property 5 stars, because before we even left our house, I phoned the front desk and Chris Patel - the General Manager - went out of his way to accomodate us for an early check-in. I thought that was very kind of him considering our situation. Anyone else (I suppose) would have asked us to return closer to the 3pm check-in time, and I was grateful for the opportunity. When we checked in, he greeted us with a smile and thanked us for being an IHG Member. Let us know what amenities there were and where they were located. This property boasts an upscale, modern vibe and their rooms are immaculate. I especially enjoyed their kitchenettes for those times where my Mom and I didn't feel like eating outside at a restaurant. We had a 2 queen 1 bedroom suite on the 4th floor. They also had DirecTV so we were set for the week. Their hot breakfast was also a nice touch every morning. Fruit, granola, potatoes, and gosh - those biscuits - they are something else! So good! Water was hot just like I like it; albeit low water pressure. Not a huge deal and not knocking a star off my review because the rest of the stay was smooth. Housekeeping was upon request - which we appreciated. Having been an extended stay guest, we opted for housekeeping service every other day. At the very least, we would request trash pick-up and replacement of bed linens and with the limited Spanish I knew, I was able to somewhat communicate with the lady servicing the room. Beds were comfortable as was the temperature in the room.
The General Manager (Chris Patel) and Micah (sp?) were the true standouts during our 7-day stay at this property. There was also a very sweet blonde-haired lady that was very helpful as well, but I forgot to ask her name. I would definitely choose to stay here again in the future if we should ever need to relocate...
