I love the food at Velvet Taco and have been a patron at the old location near Knox & Henderson since 2012. VT is pricey and that's fine as long as the food delivers, which it does! However, for the price, please make the following changes.
A few suggestions....
The option of Paper Plates would be nice. I don't think a .02 cent paper plate is asking for much considering the price point of the food. Maybe if the square sheet of paper currently supplied were larger than a CD case... Do you have any idea how difficult it is to strategically position a huge tah-co so its insides fall on a CD case sized sheet of paper? It's nearly impossible to not get food on the table, thus rendering the food inedible. Plus it's harder to clean the table and creates an unsanitary condition. How about a 15"x12" sheet of paper as a minimal size?
The fork spoon combo utensil sucks. You know this! It's awkward to hold, short, the fork end is nearly useless. My food is getting cold while I fumble with the uselessness of its shape. Simply set up a utensil/condiment stand like everyone else. Provide a fork and spoon in their traditional shape. These shapes have been proven to work for thousands of years across the globe. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel or the fork! It's not working!
Last, why number food items with a ".5" as in 11.5?? Which is delicious by the way.... Isn't a whole number more efficient and less confusing? Let me give you an example of a whole number. #6, #4, #8.... Not #14.63 or #62.83120. Just a regular whole number is all...
Read moreA new Premium Taco spot near The Colony Tx. Tried them out for the 1st time for dinner on July 2nd. They did not disappoint. They have some very interesting flavor combinations I would have to call it international flavors. So not your typical Mexican or even Tex-mex...even though they were very busy approaching barley controlled chaos level we were seated very quickly and our order was ready in about 15 min. They have a fair selection of beer and their house made margarita is really good even coming from a frozen machine. They did not skimp on the tequila. I had the Cuban Pig Taco and it was delicious as was the California shrimp Taco. I will be going back soon to sample some of their more exotic combinations. My wife tried the Brisket taco and found it mouth watering good. All the meat was perfectly cooked and condiments where all crisp and fresh. Queso dip was outstanding and generously sized. (only 2 small detractions are the tortillas and chips are not in house homade. They toast them for you but they have to have that true homade flavor in this cut throat dinning category. I would easily give them 5 stars if they had been) Also of special note: Shorty, was our server and waitress and she is awesome and has a wonderful outgoing personality. Definitely Manager material. Keep up the good work and the great service. Thanks for a wonderful and delicious evening. The decore is cool and the whole restaurant is...
Read moreA pleasant surprise. My wife and I ate lunch here yesterday and I must say I was impressed. With so many new establishments that disappoint me, that is a surprise. First, I will say their app has a few bugs in it because I preordered online. For signing up you were to get free “Queso and chips”. But once I did and ordered it would not let me add those to my basket. But the manager at the restaurant knew of the bug and honored the commitment anyway. My wife ordered the Fish n’ Chips and I the Mexi-cali Shrimp tacos. One of these monsters is all any person ought to eat. With the Chips and Queso it was a full blown “stuffed to the rafter” meal. If you were very hungry you could eat two tacos each, but you would be feeling stuffed. Considering prices post pandemic of food, I usually go on total meal cost to figure whether I got a bargain. So, I got a bargain with the free chips and queso. Less than $20.00 for my wife and me. The fresh brewed iced tea was good, and the place was clean. Music was at a pleasant volume and the help was courteous. And as frosting on the cake, my wife bought a piece of their Red Velvet cake to go, complete with their caramelized sweetened condensed milk sauce. The whole experience was as awesome as the dessert. We will be back to try each taco...
