I tried this place out since my usual lady is so busy & hard to get into. Lesson learned. My esthetician was visibly nervous and shaking, that should have been my cue. She had me get undressed and I had nothing to cover myself for when she returned. I know she's going to see it, but the hallway doesn't have to! So she begins the prepping, sprays my crotch directly like she's washing a window, and dries me with paper towels, or sand paper? It felt the same. Next a pile of scented baby powder, great. I asked if it had talc because that's a big no no on my crotch. She had no idea, checked the bottle, no talc, but then asked what talc was. ā After every time she touched something she Didn't sanitize, she just seemed to change gloves or add a new one? It was odd, but whatever works I guess. Finally it came to the actual sugaring. She MICROWAVES the whole jar right next to me, several times, checking by tapping the inside of the jar to see if it's ready. The other place I have gone before, and will only go now, uses special warmers because sugar wax is basically food and will cook in a microwave. My esthetician let me know this was how ALL of the Sugaring NYC's do it that way. A national chain can't afford the proper equipment? No, they're just cheap and greedy. So the the hair removal starts, this was way extremely painful not at all like I'm used to. I had to stop her so I wouldn't be bruised. She did discount me since we didn't do the full service and I tipped her the same because it isn't her fault, it's the company who didn't give her the tools...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat concept, nice staff⦠ineffective āsugaringā wax with misleading sales. I came here for my first time, and although the esthetician was real nice, she missed so many patches all over my legs and butt area. It felt as if I had shaved my legs myself and missed several patches. Constructive feedback for the place: make sure ALL hairs are removed before closing up the session. Maybe get a flashlight or have the client feel around and see what areas need to be done.
Constructive feedback for the sales: If your coupon says there is a freebie or a discount on a service, honor what you say. If you canāt do that, put in italics on the coupon terms and conditions. Also, to be more clear, I would suggest removing the overlapping sales you have over your services to keep it clean and clear.
The āsugaringā didnāt even look like a sugar scrub. It looked like someone had put a laffy taffy on my skin. And the lady had placed the stuff in the microwave. Other wax places I go, they have it in a crockpot.
Also a nit picky thing which is something that canāt be changed due to branding, the lighting could be shifted to more golden colors to make it more relaxing for the client. Bright white hospital lights turn on stress system.
Overall, wish your business the best of luck. Iām sure you have plenty of other clients who are satisfied with your service⦠this review is mainly for the owner to review. So more than happy for you to take this down after reading. Either way, this was an experience, and Iām glad the esthetician made it more enjoyable being my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going to Sugaring NYC for some years now. I wouldnāt say Iām a regular customer, but I go there as a back-up when Iām traveling. If they didnāt seem so āsupply chainā when it comes to how they view their customers, had better pricing and maybe some reasonable Membership options, steady GOOD techs then I would possible go religiously. But thatās not the case. Which is why I gave it 4 stars. Plus too many new techs pass thru the locations and Iād rather have the same tech every time. Itās a pretty decent sugaring franchise, so Iāll keep them as a back-up.
However, I visited the location in The Colony and Krystal was absolutely phenomenal!! She knew what she was doing, how to do it and was soooo kind!! Very relaxed and professional session. It was a bummer, b/c she said that wasnāt her home store, but Iām willing to drive wherever sheās located for my sugaring!...
