Went in-person and chose an engagement ring for the love of my life. We went on Sunday; paid for the expedited service as it was normally 2 weeks. They told us the ring was going to be ready by Friday as the jeweler was on vacation and it would be ready to pick up on Friday. They even asked me beforehand when I was planning for the official proposal to be. Fast forward to Saturday afternoon (We didn't make it on Friday due to work and rush hour traffic). They told us that the ring is not ready because the jeweler called out due to a family emergency (which was understandable).
What ruined the whole experience is that the jeweler/sellers deflected the responsibility of notifying us that the ring was not ready yet. They didn't think to let us know on Friday nor Saturday. They didn't even consider how we had plans on Sunday and we would have to change our schedule again to adjust to their disorganization. To add insult to injury, we got blamed by the jewelers that we did not call first (despite having paid an expedited fee and then informing us that it would be ready for pickup by Friday). Plus, they told us just to come back tomorrow and that it's not a big deal (we already told them beforehand that our work makes it difficult to travel anytime esp. with traffic as we don't live that close by). Then, they told us that "someone" was supposed to inform us when the ring was finally ready (they did not provide this info to us when we purchased the ring). So to sum it up, we got blamed, nobody in this place had any accountability, and we were shamed that we should have called first. The lack of respect really upset us both.
One would think if it was an engagement ring, whatever it cost, it was worth a follow-up. We didn't even haggle for anything. We asked once if there was any loyalty discount as we had been there to purchase a small item last year and it was our second time returning, but there wasn't anything. We opened up a credit line and was charged for the lifetime membership fee, taxes, and the expedited fee, but no complaints as we loved the ring. We got the 15% off sale they were having for all customers during Valentine's. It came up to $7k. Aside from the cost, our time was just as important, if not more, as the significance and the process of this experience.
Nothing against "L" and "M" as everything was pleasant, until we realized they were basically downplaying the whole mishap and their lack of communication/action, it was ironic thinking back how they asked us to leave a positive Google review upon our purchase before we even ever walked out with anything but paperwork, before we even had the ring in our hand. We didn't even ask for any customization, all it was, was a resizing down to 1.5 sizes. We even planned to go back for the wedding rings.
Overall, it seemed as if their job was finished even before the final execution, but we never even had the ring in our possession. We agreed that we did not want the ring anymore as we would only be reminded of how we were treated and how everything played out. I just walked back in while trying to remain calm. I told them straight up that I wanted a refund.
Now, they start offering to resize it within two hours etc., but irreparable damage had been done. Why did we have to go through all this in the first place. Definitely not the end of the world, could be worse, etc. but the ring was useless to us at this point. I remember both of us were quite anxious and excited for the entire week we were waiting to pick it up. I guess the disappointment was magnified due to the anticipation. We are very reasonable people but did not want this ring anymore as it would've only brought us bad memories, as this was the last thing we needed. We hoped to have had a better conclusion with...
Read moreOur search for the perfect engagement ring and wedding bands began nearly three years ago, influenced by various events and circumstances. Recently, we decided to visit Roosevelt Mall to explore our options and finally move forward.
At the first jewelry store, we found an engagement ring within our agreed budget and were pleased. However, we wanted to ensure we were making the right choice, so we continued our search. That’s when we walked into Helzberg Diamonds and met Mrs. Lee Terranova.
Mrs. Terranova’s professionalism and personable nature stood out immediately. She began with a simple, thoughtful question that set the tone for an engaging conversation. To my delight, we discovered she was a fellow Brooklynite (I'm a fellow Brooklynit), which resonated with my old-school belief that Brooklyn people are authentic and straightforward. Mrs. Terranova exemplified this with her no-nonsense approach, offering clarity and transparency throughout the process.
At Helzberg Diamonds, we were able to explore and try on engagement rings and wedding bands in a calm and supportive environment. Mrs. Terranova provided a thorough understanding of Helzberg’s customer-focused values, making us feel confident in our decision.
Ultimately, we purchased both the engagement ring and matching wedding bands from Helzberg Diamonds and couldn’t be happier with the quality and service. While we are grateful to Helzberg Diamonds, special kudos go to Mrs. Terranova for being a guiding light during this important moment in our lives. We wholeheartedly recommend Helzberg Diamonds to anyone searching for engagement rings or wedding bands.
Thank you, Mrs. Terranova, and thank you,...
Read moreI am extremely upset with this place. I got a stone set here in a diamond band that I own. I paid over $1000. I absolutely loved the ring with their stone but after 2 months, the stone fell off. I looked everywhere for it but could never locate it. I went to the store to talk about what they could do for me. A woman went to look up my purchase in their computer and stated that the only thing that popped out was a "repair." I told them that I did a purchase and they placed the stone on the ring and it was not only a repair. I then asked them if they could order a few stone choices for me and I would just re purchase it. They told me they would call me once the stones arrived which would take only 3-4 days. I waited a week and stopped by to ask them about it since they never called me. The girl in the front then tells me that she promises she'll call back within the next week. I then get a call about a showcase they are having 2 weeks later. (Regarding this showcase, I told them 3 weeks ago at the original encounter, that I could not attend it because I would be out of town.) I tell them again that it doesn't interest me and that I've told them this before and express my urge to see thoes stones I originally asked for. The same woman I spoke first to tells me that they will call me once the stones come in. It's been over 2 months and not one call. Completely unprofessional. I'm sort of glad they never contacted me now because it's clear to me now that their stone was crappy quality, the customer service sucked and their jeweler who does the setting is a failure at his job because he obviously couldn't secure a simple...
