I've been meaning to write this review for a while, but here I am, a year later, and the shoes I purchased from the Fallen Arch are still eating up the trails. You all surpassed my expectations (and saved me from worsening knee pain!), not only of the service I received, but the shoes. I was working locally last summer, hiking every day for my job as well as preparing for a longer thru-hike, and the hiking boots I had gave me blisters, were not grippy, and resulted in aching feet. I even started having knee pain, which had never happened before, so on the recommendation of a coworker, I visited the Fallen Arch to look at trail runners. The owner of the store was incredibly thorough when fitting me as well as knowledgeable and just generally approachable. I walked out with shoes I was initially skeptical about but have never looked back. No blisters, no foot pain, grips wet rock like it's nothing. I've put hundreds of miles on them. I have since mentioned your store dozens of times to any of my coworkers or hikers I've talked to who complained about their shoes. And in the past, after the initial visit to get fitted for shoes, I'd buy subsequent pairs online, but not anymore! I will definitely be buying trail runners only from this store for years to come. I LOVE the shoes you sold...
Read moreLast night we walked by this store and admired the great selection of shoes in the window. We walked into town this evening intending to purchase 3-4 pairs of shoes and were excited to see the selection. We entered the store today at 5:50 and were immediately greeted by an employee who said "by the way we close in 5 minutes." Firstly, the store actually closed in 10 minutes, so the man clearly did not want us in the store. My mom explained, "oh darn it, we were trying to get here but it's been closed!" In response the male employee sharply replied, "well we need to enjoy our summer too." Shocked, and now embarrassed, my mother, siblings, and I all quickly left. Not only did the store lose a several hundred dollar sale, but left a completely stale taste in our mouth. We understand that businesses close, and we certainly would have done our shopping quickly and probably would have purchased our shoes within 10-15 minutes. It's a shame that we were embarrassed, but also that a small business, that we wanted to support, lost a sale. Hopefully this review serves as a learning experience and future customers are not embarrassed by...
Read morePhenomenonal local business and resource! 🙏🏻👍🏻 Bob and Gail have run a 5-Star Small Business for many, many years now. They don't just sell shoes. They're distance athletes that understand the demands and rigors of the foot and ankle from training, and life. They recommend shoes based on your needs, your anatomy, your gait (treadmill in store for gait analysis). The folks that had a bad customer service experience are an outlier. Business owners can't control every single interaction, every single hour, of every single day. That doesn't make them a 1/5. That means you had a single negative retail interaction, which happens. Employees are often quite stressed during the highest volume seasons. I worked retail at Cabela's. We're all humans. We're all doing our best. This store's "best" is a daily level of excellence, for years, that most small businesses don't ever achieve. We're lucky to have...
