Great Neck Opticians — Local services in Town of North Hempstead

I had set an appointment here in November. I asked the lady on the phone to take my insurance and to confirm it prior to getting there. She told me she would not do that. I end up going to the appointment and they tell me they do not accept VSP, but they can do some backend billing through a sister office or match the prices, so I proceed.

I end up going through with my appointment. I liked the doctor. I picked out Tom ford glasses and they charge me $650, plus billing to my insurance. I just had gotten new insurance, so I had no idea if my insurance was good or not.

I talked to other lawyers at my office and they say this sounds completely wrong and they all paid 250-300 for high end glasses because our insurance is so great.

I contact the office and request an itemized bill going over what was billed to insurance and what I paid since my coworkers said that is completely wrong. I get told for almost a month that someone will do this and send it to me. I texted many times and called a handful of times to not receive what I requested. I still have not, even though I have requested it probably about 10-15 times now.

Today, they finally texted a breakdown which does not match my VSP benefits. It feels like they have been using arbitrary numbers to bill me.

I looked up my frames they said cost $650, using the serial number on the side of the glasses (FYI- they cover serial numbers with stickers so you can't go look up the real prices) and the frames online are 25% of their price without insurance.

I will never go here again, and have advised others of my experience. I see other people on Yelp have had issues with billing and insurance like this prior as well.

Also, my frames were supposedly $650 there but 125-300 online, mainly being 150-175. I would recommend not purchasing...

i went here to to get an eye exam and everything went well. I had to get my glasses shipped because I had to go out of state for emergency purposes. I was told the fee to ship was $20 for 1-2 day shipping. It has been about 2 weeks and I still haven’t received my glasses. I called USPS and was told whoever prepared my package provided an insufficient address. I repeated my address continuously and kept asking if they had the right address and they reassured me that they did. I have been waiting for my glasses and I tried to reach out multiple of times and all they provide me with is “were waiting for the package to be returned to our office and will then ship it back with the correct address.” I even spoke to the doctor and she said theres nothing they could do on their end but wait for the package. This was all handled very unprofessional and as a patient I deserve to get positive feedback and professional assistance. I am very unsatisfied with the service that was provided. I will not be returning to this Optician office. The one who took care of this package continuously lied and denied that she made no mistake on her end but that it was my fault for not providing the information they needed. I’ve had a wonderful experience with Great Neck Opticians over the past year. In that time, I’ve purchased five pairs of glasses: two for myself, two for my son, and one for my daughter. The service has been consistently excellent. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth. Sabrina, the receptionist at the front, is always so friendly and welcoming. She has such a positive and calming energy, and my kids absolutely love her.

The customer service overall is top notch. The team is kind, efficient, and truly family oriented. Tony, in particular, has been amazing. Not only does he offer fair and reasonable pricing, but he has also gone above and beyond in repairing my son’s glasses multiple times without hesitation. He is patient, knowledgeable, and always ensures we leave satisfied.

Another thing I appreciate is how fast their turnaround is. After my most recent eye exam, I had my new frames ready within a week.
