The Container Store — Local services in Tukwila

If you have lots of time to waste dealing with hassles, due to staff disorganization, then this is the place for you.

I placed three different orders during the last couple of weeks and each one was messed up badly by Container Store.

Today when I tried to pick up my order from Curbside pick-up, I ended up leaving empty handed. I had given the Container Store employee my email and name so he could look up my order. He said he found my order, but asked me for my order number to help him find the product. Confused, I re-clarified multiple times with him that he had found my order item that I had ordered (yes), found my name (yes) and found my email (yes.) He explained that he needed my order number to help him locate the item in his warehouse. He even made a trip out to my car where I was waiting to ask for my order number in person. (huh?) I had told him that I have two accounts, and clarified yet again that he had found my order with the email I had given him (yes.) Exasperated and out of ideas, I ended up leaving, after explaining to him that I had already spent 20 minutes in my car trying to find the Container Store email that contained my order number.

I did not know he was deceiving me. I did not know he had not actually located my account or order information at all.

I got home and saw that the order was made with my business email address. Which tells me that the Container Store had been lying to me. He should have answered honestly, instead of leading me to believe he'd located my order with the email I'd given him.

After I got home and could assess what went wrong, I could see that Container Store "spam" is also at fault. The order email isn't labeled "order" in any way. The preview promotes "SHOP ALL SALE CLOSET STORAGE KITCHEN BATH SHELVING OFFICE LAUNDRY" -- all totally unrelated to the order. (No wonder I couldn't find the order email on my phone in the car.) In addition, Container Store bogs down your email with other spam emails. So, not only does the Container Store not make it easy for the customer to find their order email (with the much needed order number), they do a poor job training their employees how to problem solve. Way too much burden is put on the customer's shoulders to track orders.

If this were the only incident, I'd ignore. But this is the...

This place is awesome! I found this place by accident as I had to park in front of this store and had to walk thru it that I noticed the closet organizing area. It was exactly what I was looking for But... I didn’t know they design your closet based on the measurements you give them.

Now I was very reluctant to have them help me because.... well I was afraid of the up-sale or the extra charge if they designed for you but to my surprise there is NO charge for them to sit with you, consult with you and design your closet either with you or you can leave the measurements with them and they will send you an email for you to view, adjust and approve with pricing, visual design plan as well as an item list with all the items needed for you to install.

If you need it installed they even include a very reasonable cost for installation. Out of curiosity I went to Lowe’s to compare pricing and to my surprise with the Elfa sale you don’t save much money with Home Depot or Lowe’s.

The staff seem too nice as I thought there had to be more cost to this.... But the design was all included in the price of the hardware needed. Kelsey, Christy Suzann and everyone was so helpful and pleasant to work with.

I love this so much not only did I have my closet designed and purchased I had my daughters closet and small pantry designed and purchased. Not only that I ended up make many changes after I installed my first closet and they helped me thru it all with a smile!
