WARNING: Poor rating due to a horrible interaction with an employee!
My most recent shopping experience was pretty terrible as I had an older sales woman being extremely condescending to me. Sally, a part timer who has been in the store for 5 years treated me as of I were a common thief with her short, rude, condescending demeanor.
First, I went to return an item that I picked up but no longer wanted while shopping and Sally looked me up and down (as if I couldn't see her eyes), asked if she herself could return the item back to its rightful place, and looked at the additional items that I had in my hand as if I were going to steal them. If Sally felt like I was going to steal them, she should use a recovery statement of customer service to be more of service to the company rather than make me feel uneasy. "I can hold those at the register for you."
Secondly, I asked if Sally could retrieve my previously placed order from the back. She took my name but never asked for an order number, receipt, or anything. That's not good, as anyone could say my name and get the product. When she brought my order out, I wanted to purchase some items. I began to wrap my items in the excess paper that was in my bag and Sally had a bad attitude as if I should not have been handling my purchase. She seemed upset that I didn't want everything wrapped. I have a choice in how I want my items even if you're concerned.
Attempting to make small talk, I got to know how long Sally had been working at this location. She mentioned that she retired from working full-time elsewhere and currently working part-time for 5 years. 5 years is long enough to have a poor attitude. Maybe she doesn't like retail and should retire from this as well.
While still at the cash register, a throw pillow caught my eye so I asked Sally if it was on sale. The sale signage looked to be on certain items on the wall, but I just wanted to clarify. Sally opened the throw pillow cover, scanned the barcode and told me the price of the throw pillow cover. Not only did she not answer my question, she thought she was going above and beyond to tell me that the insert was sold separate. Did I ask that Sally?! No. Please tell me if the item is on sale.
Lastly, I try to conserve paper and bags as much as possible so I chose not to take any additional bags. I was not given the opportunity for my electronic receipt as she rapidly chose to opt me out and rudely told me that she did it. I would not want to interact with Sally again until she learns how to speak to customers with a desire to serve. Customers of Crate & Barrel come in many shape, shades, and sizes. I hate walking into a store where the employees judge me as unworthy to spend my money.
Crate & Barrel to me focuses on quality products that lovers of houseware and decor can count on. I don't want to feel judged when I walk into this store. I am a longtime customer that loves the store (my home literally could be a showroom) but I certainly don't appreciate the Sallys of the store making me feel...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but the customer service at this Crate & Barrel location was so poor that I feel compelled to. My fiancé and I attempted to return duplicate gifts she received at a bridal shower, with the original packing slip as proof of purchase. According to Crate & Barrel’s own policy, this should qualify for merchandise credit.
Instead, the staff were dismissive and unprofessional. The cashier initially claimed the packing slip didn’t show the items were purchased from Crate & Barrel, even though it clearly does. While we waited for a manager, the associate answered a phone call and openly spoke rudely about that customer right in front of us. When the manager finally arrived, they were equally unhelpful and dismissive. We were told we couldn’t return the items because we weren’t the original purchasers, despite the packing slip clearly showing my fiancé as the recipient.
This experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and completely out of step with what I would expect from a company like Crate & Barrel. I would NOT RECOMMEND this location to anyone.

We went to the Cherry Hill location, and they were able to return it and give us merchandise credit with no problem. Further proving the poor customer service at the KOP location, where they were dismissive and did not even try. Again, I would not recommend shopping at this location to anyone if they are looking to have a good experience. Read moreThere’s no design that crate and barrel is set up lovely. The store was decorated for the holiday season. Staff was abundant, which was nice. And although they were fully stocked, during holiday time, you do expect some sales, there were none on anything worthwhile, I went there for something specific, and was able to get that. it was extremely overpriced but it was what was requested. It still bothers me. It was about 50% more than it should’ve been. Regardless, I did put the item in my car after purchasing it and wandered around to see if there was anything else I was interested in. I’m very much in need of a sofa and furnishings. I went and looked and sat on every sofa they had. They’re displays were beautiful, but comfort is extremely lacking. Unfortunately, I can’t hold that against the store because they don’t manufacture they just sell. But it would be really wonderful to have a super comfortable sofa on display. All the display areas were gorgeous. I know a lot of people by there and don’t mind spending gobs of money because then they can say they bought it at Crate & Barrel. One of my most negative experiences with crate, and barrel is a set of dishes that were far over priced. They were a little rustic and white/ivory with a black rim around them. That rim did not hold up the dishes look awful old and used for like a dozen years or more.
