I usually stay away from Vietnamese food inside of a mall. they tend to be...watered down for the public. what drawn me to this establishment was the beef rib phở. disappointed that they were no longer available and the website wasn't even updated. so I opted for their deluxe, which included the flank, brisket, and meatballs - if I remembered correctly. also their Vietnamese iced coffee.
now while their deluxe didn't include all the normal trimmings w tripe and tendons, the amount was adequate. I enjoyed the hot broth and you could tell the noodles were blanched so it came out nice and soft; not in a hard ball you'd have to pry apart. the deepness of the flavor isn't there. very much bone broth based but lacking a strong aromatic taste from the anise or cinnamon or ginger or coriander. don't get me wrong, the hints are there...just not distinct.
I enjoyed the coffee. not the best, but good size and quality. not rich in flavor as it would be from just straight condensed milk. it is passable and I'd probably get it again if I'm IN the mall only
for an eatery like this, which is located on the upper level right outside Dick'a Sporting Goods mall entrance, it did it's job by sticking to the basics and offer the core of Vietnamese food in a small, confined space. I can't based it off any of my favorite places because then nothing would live up to it. everything was good, not great - but overall for what it sets out to do, it deserved the attention and...
Read moreWow!!!! My husband and I were expecting it to be good, but we were blown away by how tasty the food here was. We ordered the pho with brisket and steak (rare filet mignon!!!) and the bun bo hue. We also got the shrimp salad rolls and a coffee. The steak was so tender and soft, but the best part of the pho according to my husband was the broth, as it should be. You cannot have a good pho bo without good broth. It was savory and sweet with just the right amount of spices to taste in the background. I really enjoyed the bun bo hue, the broth was flavorful and tasty. You can add in more chili oil if you prefer it to be spicy.
My husband and I love vietnamese food, but we are still american so we are not as adventurous in the cuts of meat we like to eat. You can get good vietnamese staple cuisine here, being in a mall the cuts of meat are tasty and easy to eat. The shrimp salad rolls were so tasty and the peanut sauce was also really delicious and complimentary.
The staff are all so cute and friendly. The sisters are very kind and the uncles are funny. When I was here the staff were laughing joking with each other. I am hoping this place is around for a long time and wish them all the success and luck.
I highly recommend it here and will be back for the tasteful ambience and...
Read morePretty calm for a small restaurant right on the main mall thoroughfare near the entrance. Very modern and calming decor.
Ordering was relatively simple, with both in-person counter and online ordering options, even for dine-in. My main issue was that while they have a ton of Gluten Free options, to my companion's delight, they were only indicated as so on the website's menu, not on the online order form itself. So my companion had to have the menu on their phone while I actually input the choices into the online order form on my phone.
As for the food itself, it was excellent. I managed to stuff myself without realizing, and my companion loved the food as well. Nothing was dry, which is something I've encountered at other East/South-East Asian restaurants.
Extra condiments, like Siracha and Soy Sauce, are self-serve. With free water on tap.
Overall, a very pleasant experience, and I look forward to...
